Overview

Country charm meets five-star family comfort at Great Barn Farm — a self-catering escape tucked away in the heart of Norfolk’s countryside. Perfectly placed for families seeking peace and privacy, yet within easy reach of plenty of adventures

Whether you’re planning a multi-generational gathering or a quiet break with your nearest and dearest, Great Barn Farm offers space, style, and scenery in equal measure. Each home-from-home blends contemporary design with rustic character — think soaring beams, vast windows framing postcard-worthy views, log burners, and private outdoor spaces ideal for soaking up golden sunsets. Interiors have a definite splash of Soho House style — minus the fees, fuss, or fear of toddlers with sticky fingers!

There’s something for everyone here. From the six-bedroom Farmhouse sleeping up to 16 (complete with a private tennis court and garden), to the five-bedroom Cattle Sheds — perfect for two families holidaying together. Cosier options include the four-person Piggery and Stables, while the intimate Tack Rooms suit couples with just a little one in tow

Facilities are at your fingertips here. We’re talking a heated indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi spa and steam room to enjoy year-round. And the best bit? Every barn bags a daily swim slot, meaning uninterrupted access to the full pool—just for you and yours

Whether you want to cook up your own storm or let someone else do the work for you, dining here is delightfully effortless. At base, fully equipped kitchens and generous gardens make laid-back family feasts a no-brainer. Norfolk’s local produce is top-tier—fill your basket at the farmers’ market or pop into the nearby Waitrose for a well-stocked haul. Craving a meal out? You’re spoilt for choice. The owners are a goldmine of foodie recommendations—but promise us this: don’t leave without booking a table at Sculthorpe Mill. It’s not just a local gem—it’s one of Tiny Travelship’s favourite UK dining spots

Life here moves at the gentlest pace — early morning woodland walks, lazy afternoons beach-hopping, and evenings around a pub table. From your doorstep, some of Norfolk’s most beloved spots are just a short jaunt away: the sweeping sands of Holkham and Brancaster, the quirky nostalgia of Wells-next-the-Sea, wildlife-packed nature reserves, pedal-perfect cycling trails for little legs, scenic golf courses, and historic market towns

Norfolk is hands down my favourite corner of the UK. The food, the beaches, the picture-perfect market towns… it all blows everywhere else out of the water, in my opinion. And when it comes to where to stay, this trip felt like we’d absolutely hit the jackpot. Say hello to Great Barn Farm — home to five design-led but brilliantly family-proof dwellings (from 1–6 beds). We instantly fell for the quirky interior touches: stylish enough to make you smile, but not the kind of place where you spend the whole time worrying about sticky fingers. Add in a wood-burning fire, stacks of board games and those floor-to-ceiling “big sky” views, and the cherry on the cake? The heated indoor pool, complete with sauna and jacuzzi. Private sessions plus open swim times meant we had guaranteed early-bird-kid entertainment and the ultimate rainy-day insurance. If you’re heading to Norfolk, I can’t recommend it enough

    Beaches

Move over, Cornwall—Norfolk’s coast is giving the South West a serious run for its money. With miles of golden sands, windswept dunes, and wild, wide skies, this is one of the UK’s best-kept beach secrets (and home to some of the finest coastline in the country). Hire a beach hut at Wells-next-the-Sea for a day of sandcastles and fish and chips. Paddleboard the calm waters at Brancaster, spot seals at Horsey Gap, or enjoy a horseback ride along the beautiful Holkham Beach

    01

    Pensthorpe

Set within 700 acres of stunning countryside, Pensthorpe combines the beauty of a nature reserve with imaginative family fun. Little ones will love the award-winning WildRootz outdoor adventure playground and the Hootz House indoor play area, both designed to inspire creativity and exploration. Nature trails, bug hotels, and interactive exhibits bring wildlife to life, while peaceful gardens and lakes offer plenty of space for a relaxing picnic. Whether pond-dipping, spotting flamingos, or burning off energy on rope bridges and zip wires, Pensthorpe is sure to get a big thumbs up from the whole family
