Overview

Set in Austria’s Großarl valley, surrounded by mountains, forests and open meadows, Moar Gut was created with one clear ambition: to deliver the luxury alpine escape adults actually want, even though those adults? They’re now parents. For new mums and dads travelling with tiny tots, the considerations made should inspire total confidence. Baby care starts from just 30 days old, with a complimentary, fully supervised Crèche running daily from 9am to 9pm for babies and toddlers up to 30 months, complete with sensory toys, a peaceful sleep room and Swiss stone pine cots. Parents are welcome to stay and play too, should anyone be suffering from separation anxiety. From around 2.5 years up to 7, children graduate into the Nature Kids’ Club, while older children and teenagers have their own dedicated Teens Corner and Teens Lounge, with age-appropriate supervised activities

That family-first thinking runs far beyond the childcare itself. Bugaboo prams, Thule bike trailers, jogging buggies, baby carriers and Stokke highchairs are all available to borrow, with no pre-booking or extra cost, while bibs, baby cutlery, crockery and Lillydoo nappies in public areas make packing feel considerably less daunting

The 1,000 square metre Nature Centre is where much of the action happens. Beyond the supervised childcare available throughout the day, an activity programme stretches far beyond its walls to animal feeding, archery, sports, cocktail-making and creative workshops (to name just a few). There’s also a dedicated parent-and-child play area spread across two levels, complete with iconic golden ball pit. Older children are equally spoiled, with a trampoline hall, climbing and bouldering zones, Gaming Room and sports hall, plus pool parties, discos and even overnight stays in alpine cabins or hay barns

Food, for which Moar Gut is renowned, is full board: breakfast, lunch, and six indulgent, locally sourced dinner courses, served from as early as 6pm alongside a children’s buffet (as well as engaging supervision – hallelujah!). For tiny diners, there’s also a 24 hour baby bar stocked with organic purées, jars and formula milk

Then there’s the water world: two indoor pools, including a children’s pool (with wave slide) heated to a toasty 34 degrees, plus a heated outdoor pool and natural bathing lake, all framed by mountain views. And for grown-ups? A dedicated adults-only spa, complete with herbal and Finnish saunas, steam room, infrared cabin and whirlpool, alongside Reformer Pilates, yoga, functional fitness and a state-of-the-art gym

Winter deserves a special mention here, too. Laying in part of Austria’s Ski amadé network, Moar Gut gives guests access to 80 kilometres of groomed slopes. For beginners, there’s an exclusive slope right by the hotel, complete with rope lift, magic carpet and ski carousel, while ski passes, equipment hire and lessons can all be arranged with ease.
