Best time to visit
Falkensteiner Family Resort Lido is open year round, and we can honestly say that each season is as amazing as it is unique. For ease, you’ll find our South Tyrol weather guide below, but in a nutshell? The ski season runs from November to March/April, while for a guaranteed snowy getaway, you’ll want to book for either December or January. Or why not take a break from the beach and splash amongst the mountains in June, July & August? Remember, the pools are heated year round beneath the glorious blue skies!

For families of three: For parents embarking on one of baby’s first holidays, the Smart Baby Room is a no brainer, featuring all of your parental paraphernalia (from a wooden cot to a baby changing station, kettle, bottle warmer & baby bath)
Those with a slightly older tiny traveller will find their perfect match in a Castle Room. Here, separate ‘castle’ sleeping spaces are partitioned by sliding doors, while all rooms also enjoy lake views and have recently renovated bathrooms. If you have a tiny one too, there is the option of adding in an extra cot
For families of four: Our top pick for a family of four? One of the brand new Premium Suite Falkynest options. As well as a main bedroom, with lake view balcony & little seating area, there is also a separate children’s sleeping space which includes twin beds and a hanging ‘Falkynest’ chill out den – fast tracking the room right up in the cool stakes (and making us envious we aren’t a little younger!)
For families of five: It has to be the Exclusive Suite Falkytent, absolutely overflowing with style and substance. Both spacious and chic, the accommodation boasts a generous balcony, plus adults will love the cosy lounge space, super luxe rain shower and sweeping lake views. Can’t find the kids? They’ll be busy hiding in their private ‘play cave’ (jealous, us? Maybe just a little…). Plus the room comes with ‘Lido Exclusive treatment’, a VIP package of added extras. Some of the best bits? What family facilities are there, and how much do they cost?
Buckle up… we’ve got a lot to get through!
In terms of fun-for-the-whole-family facilities, Falkensteiner Family Lido comes up trumps. As well as multiple playgrounds, Games Rooms and soft play areas, there are also two stunning pools, waterslides, a natural lake with a sandy beach, sports courts, giant trampolines, a year round ski slope, ziplines and a family sauna (and we’re still pretty sure we’ve missed something out!). Let’s just say boredom is off the agenda
And what makes that quality time oh-so-much sweeter? A little bit of space to relax and recharge – there are plenty of adults only areas to enjoy, thanks to the fab (and complimentary) childcare offering. To summarise in a sweeping statement, all ages (from 6 months to 16 years) can attend supervised sessions for a minimum of 9 hours a day, 6 days a week. And true masters of their craft, activities are totally tailored depending on age
To get into the nitty gritty… Baby Land welcomes tots as young as 6 months, and runs 6 days a week (Monday – Saturday) from 9am to 6pm. The equivalent offering for slightly bigger kids, Falky Land, welcomes 3-11s and has even longer hours from 9am to 9pm. Both boast a weekly-changing agenda of activities, from forest-based nature discovery sessions to craft projects and experiments. And tweens and teens are far from hard done by, with their very own Teen Zone promising Fifa tournaments, super cool hangout spaces and more
Did someone say date night? Babysitters are available to pre-book as well (just swing by Reception), with prices slightly varying according to season
Which equipment is available to borrow for babies & children?
Honestly? Almost everything – and better yet, at no additional fee with no pre-booking required either. We’re talking strollers, cots, changing mats, nappy bins, night lights, bed guards, bottle warmers, sterilisers, highchairs… the whole shebang. You can get your hands on a potty as well, but you will need to ask at reception
What are the pools like?
Inviting, to say the least! You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to swim spots. As well as the natural lake and sandy beach (which come into their own in the summer), there’s an indoor pool, outdoor pool, and dedicated baby pool too. Each is family friendly, but the real cherry on the cake? They are all heated as well, meaning splashing is on the cards the whole year round. As is whizzing down the slides, of which you’ll find three. In addition to the renowned 120m family flume, there’s also a crowd-pleasing ‘wave slide’ plus a mini one for tiny tots in the baby pool
Is there evening entertainment?
In a word, yes! From live music to mini discos, pirate shows and fun-for-the-whole-family games, there’s no shortage of entertainment whatever the hour
What’s the protocol for allergies?
Absolutely – as long as the team are notified in advance, you’ve no need to worry. They are very well versed in catering to all dietary needs
What’s the dining set up?
First things first – there is only one board basis at Falkensteiner Family Lido Resort, and that’s Full Board Plus. So, what’s included? There are four daily mealtimes (namely breakfast, lunch, ‘Bakes & Cake’ and dinner), but the real music to our ears are the opening hours. Breakfast has a leisurely 3 hour slot, from 7.3am-10.30am, while both lunch and dinner start nice and early, at 12.15pm and 6.30pm respectively. Plus popped in the middle is ‘Bake & Cake’ (think afternoon tea), making sure little tums don’t get too empty in the interim
The dishes are amazingly varied, with live cooking at ‘Market Stalls’ taking centre stage. This is way more than your classic buffet, but without the stuffiness of a formal sit down meal. These span everything from fresh pizza and pasta to BBQ feasts and dumpling delicacies. The core concept? ‘12-farm gourmet cuisine’, meaning the ingredients are consciously sourced from a small selection of local producers. Lively and interactive, every meal becomes a refined and regional ‘Alpine-Mediterranean’ experience. And going beyond Full Board, the ‘Plus’ also encompasses a high quality selection of lemonades and fruit juices alongside each meal
