Overview
You know when you discover a hotel and immediately want to tell everyone about it…but there’s also a tiny part of you that wants to keep it as your own little secret? This is one of those
Brand new for 2026, Falkensteiner Resort Lake Garda is the shiny new arrival on the shores of one of Italy’s most beautiful destinations. The Falkensteiner brand is something of a European secret; a name families on the continent have been gatekeeping for years (and it’s easy to see why). Think, the family facilities, thoughtful design and attention to detail we’ve come to expect from the very best Alpine resorts
And this isn’t just another ‘family resort’. It’s Italian elegance through and through: effortlessly chic, beautifully designed and grown-up enough that parents will genuinely love being there too. Set high above the town of Salò, the location is something of a cheat code. High enough for those dreamy Lake Garda panoramas, but close enough for spontaneous gelato missions, waterfront strolls and market wanderings. The resort is surrounded by a botanical park featuring over 400 plant species inspired by the Historia della Riviera di Salò, creating a beautifully tranquil setting, while picture-perfect towns, boat trips, vineyards and ridiculously scenic cycling routes are all within easy reach. And the practical side? Lake Garda has straightforward connections via Verona, Bergamo, Milan and Venice, plus some of the best-value peak school holiday flights from the UK
If you thought you’d seen the best of the best when it comes to family hotels, prepare to have your expectations adjusted. The facilities here are genuinely next level – and what sets Falkensteiner Resort Lake Garda apart is that children aren’t simply bundled into one generic kids’ club. From age 3, Falky Club offers tailored programmes for every stage: Ranger Juniors (3-7) focus on nature, creativity and discovery, Falkons (8-11) bring themed camps, adventure activities and mountain biking, while Ranger Explorers (12+) gives teens their own space with a lounge- gaming area with multimedia and console games, table football and table tennis. Little ones haven’t been forgotten either, with soft play, baby pools, sensory zones and a fully equipped Biberoneria with fridge, steriliser and bottle warmer. Add in climbing walls, bowling, billiards, a little theatre, a tv cinema corner, a super exciting water park with slides and spray park and even a MasterChef-style kitchen, and you can see why we’re so excited about the opening. The younger guests are also well catered for at mealtimes, with dedicated bar and restaurant menus created especially for them
The Acquapura SPA continues the clever family-meets-luxury approach. Families can enjoy indoor and outdoor pools, a children’s pool, spray park and water slides, while adults can escape to dedicated grown-up areas with panoramic saunas, relaxation spaces and rooftop lake views. Dining is another highlight. Three culinary concepts across two restaurants and a rooftop bar celebrate the flavours of the region, from beautifully crafted breakfasts and seasonal Italian dishes to homemade favourites. How about the accommodation you ask? The 97 rooms and suites are beautifully designed with natural materials, soft Mediterranean tones and a calm, contemporary feel. Suites can sleep families of up to six (music to larger families’ ears), while the 174 Falkensteiner apartments complete the property offer
Our verdict? Falkensteiner Resort Lake Garda is premium without being pretentious, family-friendly without feeling ‘kiddie’, and perfect for families who don’t want to choose between adventure and ease

Best time to visit
Falkensteiner Resort Lake Garda is open year-round, closing only briefly from 7th January to 10th February. Thanks to Lake Garda’s famously mild climate, there’s really no bad time to visit. In our opinion, April, May, June and September are the Lake Garda sweet spots: warm enough for pool days and outdoor adventures, but with fewer crowds and cooler evenings for exploring. Summer brings the classic Lake Garda experience, with long sunny days perfect for swimming, outdoor adventures and making the most of the resort’s brilliant family facilities. And December has its own magic, with Salò’s festive lights, Christmas markets and a wonderfully atmospheric lakeside setting. You’ll find our average temperature guide below:
