Gleneagles is low key luxury and a proper escape from the outside world. Revamped a few years ago to entice non golfers and families, the interiors are Scottish heritage chic. Staff are warm and friendly – not snooty or overly attentive like in some 5 star hotels – and extremely accommodating of tiny travellers. You’d have to stay a lifetime to fit in all the activities on offer

Outside there’s 850 acres of grounds to be explored – golfing, falconry, fishing and horse riding are all on the menu, not to mention the off-road driving experiences tailored for big and little legs alike

We didn’t leave the hotel but the grounds were extensive. The most adorable baby dressing gown and slippers were in the room which matched the adult ones. We had also asked for a steriliser which was set up on arrival. Although our baby was too young, they had very cute miniature land rovers for the kids to drive around outside. Gleneagles has several restaurants ranging from a cafe area by the pool which was very child friendly, to a 2 star Michelin restaurant! Our favourite was the brassiere. Babies were allowed everywhere apart from the Michelin star restaurant and we were made to feel very welcome. Breakfast was in a very grand room, where our baby would throw food from the highchair all over the carpet yet no one seemed to mind, and in the evenings they would always leave a space for the pram at our table. There were lots of other children so we never felt we were disturbing people. We had only started weaning the week before, but they had a very extensive kids menu including Ella’s pouches for the babies
