Overview

A smaller, and more intimate, take on ‘Kinderhotels’ Hotel Fameli proves it is possible to experience an affordable side of the Alps. With a Dolomites postcode worth bragging about, this price-sensitive-pad offers guests direct access to the slopes in winter, and to the miles of (pram friendly) hiking & biking trails in spring and summer. Run by the whole Gasser clan, this home-from-home has a real familial feel, with tradition and warmth the overarching essence of the place

Less than 30 minutes away from the famed Lago Di Braies and walking distance into the quaint village of Valdaora, spectacular alpine scenery is definitely not in short supply. The theme at Hotel Fameli is very much nature AND nurture, with mountain panoramas at every turn, a magical heated ‘Sky Pool’, in-room jacuzzis® and a spoiling spa. A genius backdrop for your family’s first ski holiday, there’s slopes for all adrenaline appetites, from newbies through to piste-pros. Aside from some of the most picturesque skiing in Italy, you’ve also got tobogganing, horse drawn carriage rides, magical evening lantern walks, ice skating and snow tubing on offer. Summer thrills include archery, paragliding, tandem flights and action-packed freeride trails

Dining is a real highlight too; with top chefs offering refined tasting menus for adults and offspring alike, all rooted in seasonal local produce. Suites are universally spacious and come with parent-pleasing perks like baby monitors to borrow, kettles, jacuzzi® bathtubs and fully-equipped kitchens in the Suite Fameli Loft

You’ll hear no complaints from little ones on the generous Kids Area, where they’ll find a Scandi chic Kids Club (supervised for 2+) and jam-packed activity agenda. The hotel’s alpine playground houses a mini parcour, tipi tent, soccer field, trampoline and sand pit, while the giant forest adventure zone ‘Kids World’ is mere steps away. Entertainment runs into the evening here, with a very considerate closing time of 10pm at the Kids Club

    01

    Lago di Braies

The undisputed scene-queen of the Italian Dolomites, Lago di Braies is famous for her crystal clear waters surrounded by majestic mountains. Taking row row your boat to *extremely gorgeous* levels, swimming isn’t allowed here, but all ages will enjoy enacting the beloved nursery rhyme against this unreal backdrop. Don’t forget – in high season you must pre-book a space in the carpark to visit, a new initiative introduced to avoid overcrowding

    02

    Kids World

This forest playground, spanning several hundred square metres, is only 2km from Hotel Fameli’s front door. Divided into 4 zones, there’s something to appeal to all ages; with tree houses, climbing nets, water play, zip lines and even South Tyrol’s longest super slide – at a whopping 56-meters!

    03

    The Reierhof

Guests of Hotel Fameli benefit from discounted ticket prices to this family-run local farm, home to a menagerie of pigs, horses, cattle, goats, sheep, llamas, rabbits and birds. Children will love the large playground, while parents will appreciate the regional produce dished up at the farm’s tavern
