Overview
Luxury hotels are two a penny in the Maldives, where overwater abodes, azure waters and pearl white sands come as standard. However, few resorts combine sustainability, reef protection and seamless no-need-to-lift-a-finger service like the InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau. Set on the southern tip of the Raa Atoll the only traffic jams you’ll encounter here are the underwater kind. Neighbouring a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve the snorkelling, swimming and diving here are some of the country’s best. Not only that, The Manta Trust, one of the leading conservation charities for these majestic creatures, have partnered with the hotel and you’ll find their expert marine biologists working onsite. We’d argue that there are few stresses in life that can’t be forgotten (temporarily at least) when one is gazing out across the endless Indian Ocean. If you still need a helping hand, surrender your mind, body and soul to the spa – we promise you’ll experience levels of relaxation never previously thought possible. Whilst parents are horizontal holidaying, tiny travellers are expertly entertained in the Planet Trekkers Kids Club, where budding biologists and curious explorers are encouraged to connect with the magic of the island and form a long lasting love for Mother Earth

Favourite room
Choose from beach, lagoon or overwater villas. The overwater bungalows are pretty special, suspended over the welcoming waters. However, with tiny travellers in tow, our preferred pick has to be the Family Beach Pool Villas, a safe stroll from the sea with the golden baby monitor stretch, they are also close to the Kids Club and come complete with spacious gardens. Families can reconnect after adventure filled days, sharing stories and telling tales under their private palm trees
