The flight time from the UK to Tenerife South airport is around 4 and a half hours, and there’s plenty of choice when it comes to carrier – from Ryanair & Easyjet to Wizzair and BA

Kora Nivaria Beach is just a 15 minute drive from the airport – music to our ears! Should you fly into the north of the island, a slightly longer (but still super manageable) 40 minute transfer awaits
Best time to visit
The lucky recipient of over 3,300 hours of sunshine a year (how insane is that?!) there is truly no such thing as a bad time to visit – the yearly average temperature hangs around 25º C. While the island is a renowned family friendly winter sun spot, the trade winds soften the summer rays too, making for a perfectly pleasant getaway which sits on the right side of sweltering

Families are spoiled for choice with spacious set ups at Kora Nivaria Beach. Apartments range from 1 – 2 bedrooms and all come kitted out with kitchens and terraces. It’s definitely worth going for one of the Sea Views for, you guessed it, beautiful ocean vistas. The ‘Essence Plus’ options have the most spectacular positioning, while the ‘Infinity Blue’ panoramic sea views. These home-from-homes can be found on both the top and ground floor
Oceanfront Villas are the biggest of the bunch, sleeping up to 5 guests across 1 double and 3 single beds (3 bedrooms)
Extra cots can be added to rooms, without an additional cost, and gangs travelling together can request apartments next to each other (if of the same category)

At sunset, tourists and locals gather in the village’s bars and restaurants for dinner or drinks (a five minute stroll away), and very conveniently, there’s a supermarket less than 100 metres from the resort. We’ve been told the closest restaurants aren’t the best the area has to offer, so hiring a car is recommended
Drive for 15 minutes and arrive in the village of El Tajao, with the best fish in the area, or if there’s a golf enthusiast in your gang, some of the island’s most popular courses are about the same distance away

What family facilities are there, and how much do they cost?
All the facilities at Kora Nivaria Beach are free to use
The complimentary Kids Club runs 7 days a week during Easter, summer and Christmas holidays, while outside of this it operates on Fridays & Saturdays. Opening times are from 11am – 8pm on Fridays and 10am to 6pm on Saturdays, welcoming Tiny Travellers 4 – 12 years old. Parents of younger tots are welcome to stay & play too
There’s also an open-air playground, indoor games room and soft play area at the Kids Club, alongside two children’s swimming pools and cinema screenings
It’s worth noting Kora Nivaria Beach does not offer a babysitting service
Which equipment is available to borrow for babies & children?
Cots, high chairs, bed guards, toddler toilet steps and potties can be all be provided free of charge, and it’s best to request when confirming your booking
What are the pools like?
Sea-sational! The ocean-gazing infinity pool at Kora Nivaria Beach is really rather special. There’s also an al fresco ‘desert’ jacuzzi, which allows little legs in, and a semi-Olympic swim spot, with lanes and a family jacuzzi. The 35-meter pool is heated in winter, with the water temperature reaching around 27°C, while the jacuzzis are heated up to 30°C. In summer, the water temperature in all pools is around 24-25°C. The pools are heated using solar energy
Is there evening entertainment?
The fun continues to flow into the evening at Kora Nivaria Beach, with children’s movies and Wine & Cinema screenings for grown ups
What’s the protocol for allergies?
Ingredients are clearly labelled on the produce at the Gastro Corner Slow onsite deli and the staff are always on hand to help advise on allergens. There are special breakfast menus to cater to dietary needs, and the chef will happily modify dishes to suit specific requirements
What’s the dining set up?
Kora Nivaria Beach operates on a B&B basis
Alongside fully-equipped kitchens in the apartments, you’ll find the Gastro Corner Slow – a gourmet deli selling local produce. Breakfast is served here, to be taken away and enjoyed in-room or around the pool. It’s open every day from 7am to 3pm. Magma Lounge is the space for cocktails and cinema showings, open from 5pm – 9.30pm Wednesday through Sunday. Early tea and drinks can be dished up at both the Gastro Corner Slow and Magma Lounge on request
While you won’t find any specific children’s menus, the easy going staff are happy to accommodate requests

De Tapas Por Abades for Mediterranean and Spanish dishes. They’re known for fresh ingredients, attentive service and a friendly vibe
Pizzeria Amichi Specializes in Italian cuisine, particularly pizzas. Served in a cozy environment, with reasonable prices
Buena Vista – comida y refresco dishes up traditional Italian food, great fish dishes, and awesome pasta. A favorite among locals and visitors alike
Tasca Anepa is a Spanish restaurant offering a variety of traditional dishes in a welcoming setting

A national park home to the highest peak in Spain, Mount Teide, the views are unrivalled and can be enjoyed on a leisurely hike or via an organised excursion. In particular, the park is known as the best sunset spot on the island

Just 15 minutes away, El Médano is a colourful kitesurfing mecca with lots of lovely restaurants serving the catch of the day. Save time to check out Tejita Beach, Bocinegro Mountain viewpoint and the natural pools at Los Abrigos

We had a 3 bedroom apartment on the front overlooking the sea. The apartment was lovely and modern, with an open plan living and neutral decor. The large terrace looking out onto the sea was a highlight and we ate breakfast out there every morning and sunbathed there during nap time. One downside was the third bedroom was more like an office space and didn’t have a ceiling fan (no air con in apartments) and so it was too hot for our son to sleep in so he had to come in our room. So something to be mindful of when booking for a family is to check the set up of the bedrooms. The vibe of the place in general was very relaxed. The staff were friendly and overall accommodating. We really enjoyed being so close to the beach and would mix our days up between beach and pool time. We didn’t want to do much other than relax and enjoy precious time with our first born before the arrival of number two

We visited for a week in October and the weather was perfect, around 25 degrees, full sun and a pleasant breeze. The apartments were very well-appointed, spacious, well designed and equipped, especially the kitchen which isn’t always the case with self-catering. There was a nice playground in the grounds and a Kids Club, which we didn't use but saw others happily playing. There is also a toddler splash pool at both of the pools but unfortunately the water there was freezing, that was my only bug bear the water temperature in the pools, it was heated but not enough I would say. However, the jacuzzi section of the infinity pool was warmer and big enough for a toddler to splash about so we tended to go there. We thought the Kora Nivaria was a great base for our one-week trip, but I think you need a car to do a few day trips. As I said my only gripe was the water temperature in the pool but apart from that no complaints!
