Overview
Desperately seeking the whole cheap-but-chic All Inclusive shebang for your next family trip? We’re delighted to say you’ve reached your final destination – hallelujah! – the search is over. And the name you need to remember? Mitsis Rinela
Let’s start with the hurdle most alternatives fall at – aesthetics. Recently renovated, Rinela is an oasis of calming, contemporary decor with plenty of luxury touches – from gorgeous double day beds to walk in wardrobes, extra large bathtubs and understated marble floors. Though you might find your in-room time a little limited, with so much to explore outside
When it comes to splashing spots, there’s more than we can count, including a lifeguard supervised sandy beach, three pools, a couple of little water slides, and plenty of shared or private swim up pool options. While away from the water, a playground, three Kids Clubs, jam packed activity agenda & Arcade Games Room await
While we could wax lyrical for ages about the family facilities, let’s give a little airtime to Rinela’s real points of difference. It’s in walking distance to a local town, the food (including a la carte options) consistently receives rave reviews, and there’s no scrimping when it comes to evening entertainment – from DJs to mini discos, fire eaters & magicians

Get in touch
Flight
It is around a 4 hour flight from the UK to Heraklion airport, Crete
Transfer
The last thing you want after a flight is a hefty transfer time, so we’re delighted to report that Mitsis Rinela is just 10 minutes (yes, really!) away from Heraklion airport – the stuff of holiday daydreams!
Best time to visit
A top option for some out of season sunshine – especially if your little ones haven’t yet started school – May or October beckon warm weather and waters for a fraction of the cost
Though that being said, if you’re looking for a brilliant value summer holiday break, Mitsis is definitely the name to know!
Favourite room
To say you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to room options at Mitsis Rinela is a bit of an understatement.- there’s a whooping 18 to pick from!
At the smallest end of the scale, Superior Double Rooms, Superior Bungalow Rooms & Junior Suites are fine if you’re travelling with just a tot in a cot (and then there’s choices to make about whether you want a sea view and/or shared swim up pool)
Family Suites cater for 2 adults & two children, thanks to a partition in the middle of the space which creates two separate sleeping areas, whereas Two Bedroom Family Suites are spread across two floors instead
Suites (also sleeping four) are the next step up, with extra large bathtubs and private outdoor areas – again, with sea view and private pool options – while Villas and Private Residences are the largest of all, sleeping 6
Nearby
Uniquely for an All Inclusive, Mitsis Rinela isn’t an isolated island of a resort, but is instead located in the beating heart of colourful Kokkini Hani, a former fishing village popular with locals and tourists alike. Rest assured, there’s plenty to explore on foot beyond the resort walls (though you’ll probably find it hard to tear yourself away…)
Meanwhile historic Heraklion – Crete’s capital & main port city – is only a 15 minute drive down the road as well
Price & Special Offers
from £155 p/night in low season and £230 p/night in high season
Reviews from other parents
We stayed in a Family Suite at Mitsis Rinela, which had a sliding door between the children’s and our bedroom, as well as a shared swim up pool and beautiful double day bed, which was amazing. The regular lounger service for coffees and cocktails (or mocktails for the kids) was the cherry on the cake. The hotel felt like it had been recently renovated, with very fresh decor that was still welcoming and luxurious both inside and out. We particularly loved the beach, the daily evening entertainment for the kids, and the incredible spa - who were happy to do family pamper packages. It definitely delivered as a luxury family friendly hotel, and the day trip options were amazing as well (and very easy to arrange)
@emilieloveless
The overall vibe was very boho chic and instagrammable! The rooms are gorgeous as are the grounds, pool and beach. Unfortunately the main restaurant and lobby area are still due an update, so do feel a little dated. We absolutely loved the Steak Restaurant! And the beach was fantastic. I would definitely recommend to other families It's much more chilled than other hotels I've visited. Not quite 5* vibes just yet, but has the potential to be!
