Overview
A 24hr, 5* beach resort in Crete, Mitsis Selection Laguna is one for the water babies rarely found too far from the nearest pool. With 5 to choose from, including a heated kids spot with a slide, splash your days away or saunter down to Anissaras beach – a Blue Flag awarded stretch right in front of the resort (although it’s worth noting the shore is pebbly, so definitely pack some sandals. A full entertainment program is offered for tiny travellers aged 4+, as well as an outdoor playground and playroom which are open to all ages. Babysitting can be arranged upon request, and in a stroke of genius, every single room has either a balcony or terrace so there is no need to fear being nap-trapped here (though there are no completely private pools; instead, some rooms with shared pool access)
When it comes to sleeping setups, plenty of rooms can fit a family of four, either in the one sleeping space or across 2 bedrooms. Whichever option you plump for, think gorgeous boutique bolthole vibes when it comes to the decor – with beamed ceilings, light & airy interiors and decadent gold touches despite the hotel’s sprawling size and want-for-nothing facilities

Another big tick against our parent pleasing checklist, it is just a 25 minute journey once you step outside the terminal in Crete. To get your holiday off to a hassle-free start, talk to the Tiny Travel Agency team about arranging your transfers (with age appropriate car seats, of course)
Best time to visit
A great option for out of season sunshine, visit in shoulder season (so May or October) for warm weather and waters with a lower price tag attached. It goes without saying, this is also a top pick for peak summer holiday escapes!

All rooms described as ‘Bungalow’ options can sleep 2 adults and 2 children, in one shared sleeping space (and can either have garden or sea views, with or without a private whirlpool jacuzzi)
And then the next level up, any choices with ‘Family’ in the name cater for slightly bigger broods of up to 5 (2 adults and 3 children), this time spread across 2 separate bedroom areas (which gets our vote, time and time again!). Plus, these suites have the added benefit of ground floor ‘shared pool’ options, meaning you can enjoy a dip just steps from snoozing tiny travellers (we can dream!)
Nearby
Mitsis Selection Laguna is more of a fly and flop spot. While it is parent pleasingly close to the airport, there’s not much else in walking distance beyond neighbouring hotels – not that this is a shortcoming, given absolutely everything you need can be found in the hotel

Olive mill festival
Its definitely worth keeping little ones up slightly later for the weekly Olive mill festival hosted by the Lyraki family. Every Thursday from 5.30pm, you’ll watch as olive oil & soap is made, learn the tricks of the honey trade from a traditional Cretan beekeeper, sample local wines & feast on homecooked delicacies to soundtrack of live Greek music & dancing – all arranged by the hotel

Labyrinth Park
As the name would suggest, the star of the show here is the sprawling labyrinth which waits to be conquered. However, you’ll also find quad bikes, donkey rides, pottery workshops, archery, a laser maze and mini farm at this interactive entertainment extravaganza

Acqua Plus
By far the most popular water park on the island, Acqua Plus is home to over 50 slides and attractions with something for all ages. Plus as well as lazy rivers, inflatables, pools and playgrounds
