Overview

If you’ve ever dreamed of a family holiday that combines the charm of a boutique hideaway with the perks of a full-scale resort – and a price that doesn’t make you flinch – Mousses Villas on Lefkada is your perfect escape. Tucked among ancient olive groves and sun-dappled gardens, this intimate 12-villa retreat proves you really can have it all: expertly operated Kids Clubs’, meals taken care of if you want them, and little ones making new friends – without giving up the freedom, space, flexible routines, and home-from-home ease that make villa holidays with kids such a game changer

Let’s not bury the lead. One of the biggest perks of Mousses is the childcare. If villa holidays have ever felt off-limits because you really need a few hours ‘off’ from your little ones, this is your answer. The Kids Club welcomes babies from just six months and runs throughout the season for babies and preschoolers, meaning spa treatments, poolside reading sessions, or simply a proper coffee in peace are finally on the menu. During school holidays, there’s an additional club for children aged 7+, so older kids are just as well catered for – though it’s worth noting there’s no childcare for those over 11. With sessions running until 10 pm on select nights, you’ve basically got built-in evening babysitters too. That, dear parents, is the sound of a long-overdue date night calling

At the heart of the grounds is the sparkling communal pool, perfect for little ones to splash and make friends while parents relax on sun loungers nearby. A shaded, shallow section keeps toddlers safe, and for anyone craving extra privacy, several villas have their own hidden-away pools. The on-site restaurant serves Greek dishes with a modern twist, alongside a child-friendly menu, while complimentary in-villa meal delivery means cooking is entirely optional

Location couldn’t be easier. A quick car ride takes you to Lefkada Town, where cobbled streets are lined with charming cafés and tavernas, while the soft sands and turquoise waters of Agios Ioannis are just a short, strap-in-strap-out drive away. And then there’s Lefkada itself – one of Greece’s best-kept secrets. Uniquely, there’s no ferry faff here; simply drive over a causeway from Preveza airport on the mainland and you’re on the island. Part of the Ionian, Lefkada is mountainous and lush, with pine forests offering welcome shade and beaches so vividly blue they’ve (rightfully) earned the nickname ‘the Greek Caribbean.’ Even in peak months it feels refreshingly under-the-radar, and in the shoulder seasons you’ll often find vast stretches of sand blissfully quiet. Think quintessential Greek island magic, just without the masses

    01

    Lefkada Town

Just a quick drive from Mousses, Lefkada Town is a postcard-perfect spot for a family outing, delivering everything you’d hope for from a classic Greek town (minus most of the usual crowds). Cobblestone streets wind past colourful cafés, buzzing tavernas, and a scenic marina where boats bob in the sunshine, making it easy to wander without feeling rushed. Historic churches like Agios Spyridon and Agios Nikolaos are little treasures to pop into and for a further touch of culture, the Archaeological Museum is small but brilliantly curated, tracing the island’s history from the Paleolithic to the late Roman era. Fancy a walk with a view? Stroll along the causeway to the mainland for sweeping panoramas and a chance to spot wildlife in the wetlands

    02

    Agios Ioannis

A five-minute drive from Mousses, Agios Ioannis is pure Ionian bliss. Stretching for three golden kilometres, the beach is perfect for paddles, sandcastles, or simply soaking up the sun. Windsurfers and kitesurfers will know it as one of the best spots in Lefkada, thanks to reliable afternoon breezes. Tucked behind the sand, a handful of laid-back tavernas serve up fresh seafood and local favourites

    03

    Meganisi

For families craving a slower pace, Meganisi is the dream day trip. Just a 20-30 minute hop by boat from Lefkada, this tiny Ionian island feels like stepping back in time. With no big resorts, just three sleepy villages, pine-covered hills and a coastline carved into secluded, crystal-clear coves, it gives an authentic slice of Greece practically unseen anywhere else in the country. Don’t miss Fanari Beach, where calm, crystal-clear waters are perfect for paddle boarding adventures, all backed by a brilliantly laid-back beach bar for post-swim drinks and easy, family-friendly lunches. For those planning a longer Greek escape, it’s well worth splitting your stay and basing yourselves here for an additional week, we particularly love Xeni or Mimosa villas (owned by the same fab company as Mousses)
