Only 70 minutes from Geneva airport, a breezy jaunt up the mountains is one alpine appeal of Grand Massif Samoens Morillon. The indoor heated pool with panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows is another. While most guests make a beeline for the slopes, the suave spa and swish swimming are equally tempting. A haven of high-altitude entertainment for tots, the coveted Baby Club is in operation here. If you fancy a break from pounding the powder, the traditional village of Samoens is an easy 10 mins away via the gondola and home to a local craft market on Wednesdays

To seasoned skiers, Val Thorens needs no introduction. Famous for being the highest resort in Europe, and in the heart of the sprawling 3 valleys, the unparalleled location provides over 600 km of pistes to ski-daddle down. Being so much closer to heaven, Val Thornes also has an in with the weather gods – with a super long season running from the end of November to the beginning of May. Best suited to tweens and older, ski lessons start from 11+ here, and the hotel doesn’t provide childcare for baby snow bunnies
Best for:
- Club Med’s highest-altitude resort, at over 2,300m high
- Access to one of the largest ski areas in Europe
- Tweens, teens & advanced alpine adventurers
- A long ski season

A game of ski superlatives, not only is Val Thorens the highest resort in The Three Valleys, it’s also the highest in Europe. Its plethora of pistes has something for everyone, from newbies on the blueys, to exhilarating blacks for the pros, and because of its high altitude, the snow is more reliable and the season longer!
