We were truly blown away by our stay at Port Lympne. I have mixed feelings about zoos, but this was unlike anywhere I’ve visited before, and totally put my heart and mind at ease. Run by the Aspinall Foundation, a charity with conservation at its core, it was clear animal welfare is a top priority. We stayed in the Tiger Lodge - large and luxurious with two incredible big cats free roaming outside. The delicious food also totally took us by surprise, such a treat!

Inside the white washed walls you’ll find two ‘bedrooms’; a master upstairs with an eclectic wraparound mural, a sofa bed in the downstairs sitting room, plus a separate study. There’s a small but fully functioning kitchen inside plus a BBQ and al fresco dining outside. The glittering infinity pool is the star of the show. It is worth knowing that the deck has a drop of a few inches to the garden below. The outdoor area is best suited to non movers or those old enough to know to stay clear. The bathroom is stocked with toiletries for guests to use, but there is no bath. Babes can bathe in the kitchen sink, or pack a collapsible bath for tots who love a tub
