We’ve spent hours reading the reviews you’ve shared with us to produce the most detailed family-focused guide to Luxury Family Hotels possible. Our intel comes from parents who have visited first hand (sugar coated stays these are not), so you can make an informed decision on whether or not Luxury Family Hotels are right for you
Luxury Family Hotels are *the* name to know in seriously stylish staycations tailor made for tiny travellers (and exhausted parents, of course). The clue is in their name – the intimate group of five hotels have truly nailed the art of luxurious breaks with your brood, an art they have been refining since they were founded in 1988 – always with the aim of providing a sanctuary-esque space parents can actually catch a break!
The five Luxury Family Hotel outposts are scattered across the South of England. You’ll find Fowey Hall right by the sea in Cornwall, and Moonfleet Manor by the water too, on the Jurassic coast. Woolley Grange is in a quiet countryside spot near Bath (just outside of Bradford on Avon, to be exact), while New Park Manor is in the leafy New Forest and The Ickworth (currently closed for renovations) on a sprawling Suffolk estate
The question isn’t so much what Luxury Family Hotels offer, but more, what haven’t they thought of? You can expect:
Make no mistake – none of the amazing family facilities in any way detract from the adult indulgences. To name just a few of our favourite grown up gestures across the Luxury Family Hotel spots:
In a word – yes! There is a charge of £25 per dog per night, but four legged friends are treated with just as much love as their human companions! All of the Luxury Family Hotel locations have fantastic outdoor dog washing stations (bar The Ickworth), and each doggy visitor also receives a very warm welcome with their very own bowl, cosy bed, tennis ball, and tasty treats upon arrival
It varies from hotel to hotel, but the most affordable (Fowey Hall) starts from £120 p/night for 2 adults and a baby, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, New Park Manor starts from £245 p/night (and worth every penny, if you ask us). Larger suites and peak season dates do come with a larger price tag across the board, but it’s worth noting there is no additional cost for any of the activities or childcare which is music to our ears!
It’s also worth checking out the ‘offers’ page on each hotel’s website, as quite often, a really good 3-for-2-nights deal will pop up!
If you want to see a quick side by side (all prices below are for entry level rooms in off season, sleeping 2 adults and an infant):
Fowey Hall: from £155
The Ickworth: from £195
Moonfleet Manor: from £140
New Park Manor: from £245
Woolley Grange Hotel: from £235
In a nutshell:

Rightfully crowned ‘Family friendly hotel of the year 2024’ by The Times, it’s almost impossible to find a box Fowey Hall doesn’t tick. A stunning stately mansion with sparkling seaside views, whether it’s impeccable interiors, endless entertainment or a chic spa you’re looking for, Fowey Hall is the answer
Best bits:
Bear in mind:
Sitting pretty on the Cornish coast, perched in prime position for stunning Fowey Estuary views, the hotel is a short wander away from the beating heart of the historic town. Expect a brilliant selection of local restaurants, tiny independent boutiques to mooch around, boat trips galore, an aquarium, and sheltered, sandy coves in walking distance
A quintessentially British beach break, Cornwall is renowned for it’s family attractions as well as it’s beautiful beaches. To name just a few, The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan & Camel Creek Adventure Park are all within easy day-trip reach
During low season dates rooms start from £120 p/night, while in peak periods, these are upwards of £370 p/night (it’s the most affordable of all options across the group during low season!). Prices stated are for entry level options, sleeping 2 adults and a baby
‘I’ve been to three Luxury Family Hotels now, and each is grand, with serious stately manor house vibes, while still being warm & homely. Fowey Hall in particular has undergone an amazing recent renovation and is the epitome of cool & contemporary, with quirky designer touches from bespoke wallpaper to restored antiques. It overlooks a beautiful Cornish fishing town where you can watch the boats, wander cobbled streets, dip into boutiques, and enjoy great coffee & lunch spots’
@poshlemons
‘A lot of hotels tout their family friendliness, and most nowadays will provide cots, highchairs & babysitters at most. But Fowey really goes above and beyond to create a luxury home from home experience – from bibs at breakfast to complimentary childcare & storytime. What I really loved about the hotel was its location, easily walkable into Fowey itself (which might just be the most gorgeous seaside town I’ve ever visited), with a gorgeous a sandy cove’
@frankie1204
‘Fowey Hall in Cornwall is stunning and they go above and beyond to cater for kids: travel cots, bottle warming service, high chairs and a kids menu in the restaurant, plus a child-friendly pool (my son had his first swim there). The best is the wifi baby monitors which allow parents to have an adults only dinner downstairs whilst keeping an eye on the kids’
@frankiegraddon

An eclectic country pile straight out of a great British rom com, Woolley Grange makes for the perfect higgledy-piggledy rural retreat, combining lungfuls of fresh air with plenty of cosy corners. Proving the best things come in small packages, this charmingly intimate escape expertly balances family fun with rest and relaxation – think slow paced outdoor exploring, an inviting library full of games & books, and laidback swimming sessions. Having just been through a recent renovation, the interiors have never looked better – think quirky and artfully eclectic. Expect vintage fairground horses hiding round corners, life-sized woolly sheep for kids to clamber over, exposed beams and pretty little lamps you’ll want to smuggle home in your handbag. We can’t think of a better place to do nothing at all (without anyone complaining ‘I’m bored!’)
Best bits:
Bear in mind:
Woolley Grange is nestled in the idyllic Wiltshire countryside, just outside of picturesque market town Bradford on Avon. Though we wouldn’t recommend the walk with little legs, the town centre is only a couple of minutes’ drive away, and will reward you with pretty-as-a-picture Cotswolds streets, stunning river views, little artisan shops, traditional English pubs and independently owned restaurants
Putting it simply, a lot (if that’s what you want(. Beautiful Bath, with it’s Roman ruins and magnificent abbey, is a short drive away, Longleat Safari Park promises a walk on the wild side that will enthral all ages, while a life sized pirate ship and adventure playground await at Bowood House and Gardens
Sitting right in the middle of the Luxury Family Hotels spectrum, off peak prices are as little as £195 p/night, increasing to £300 p/night and upwards as we move into school holiday dates (prices stated are for entry level options, sleeping 2 adults and a baby)
‘Woolley Grange restored my faith in holidays with a little person. I felt like I had more of a break in the two nights we were than I did in previous week long holidays with our little boy. They went above and beyond with the baby amenities, even providing a baby monitor in the room that works anywhere in the hotel. My husband and I were able to go to dinner in the evening (AMAZING food by the way) and watch our son on the monitor’
@bethang83
‘You know a hotel is doing something right when it rains the *entire* 3 days you’re away (bar about 30 minutes!) and there is still more than enough to entertain your very hyperactive 3 year old! Highlights included the stunning indoor pool, home-from-home library jam packed with toys and books, and more children’s activities than I could name (from reptile handling to t-shirt decorating). The food was knockout and the team unbelievably warm & welcoming – including the gardeners who coaxed the ducks over to say hi, and packed us off with artichoke bulbs to plant at home’
@bec_pb
‘Woolley Grange is like coming home to family friends, the staff are the hotel’s best asset and treat you like friends from the moment you step through the door. Nothing is too much trouble, they learn your children’s likes and dislikes almost immediately and it’s such a warm and friendly atmosphere. We have been for Christmas for the past 3 years and couldn’t love it more. It works in all seasons, with the vast gardens and outdoor pool in the summer, to the cosy lounges and open fires in the winter’
@mrsannapearson

A beautiful base to explore the Devon coast (if you can drag yourself away from all the on site entertainment), grand Moonfleet Manor is packed with over 400 years of history – from soldiers to smugglers, and most recently, families. Proudly perched above Chesil Beach, the house has lovingly been resorted to it’s former Georgian glory, with a little added extra contemporary comfort
Best bits:
Bear in mind:
Moonfleet Manor is in a tranquil Jurassic Coast spot, a stone’s throw from 18 mile long Chesil Beach. It is within walking distance of calm coves, perfect for swimming and splashing around, while Weymouth is less than a 20 minute drive away. Honey-hued Abbotsbury village is also more than worth a visit to mooch around, steeped in history with little galleries and cute cafes to pop in to
Where to start? For those looking to soak in the area’s natural beauty, the snaking coastal path and Durdle Door are absolute musts
Fossil hunting and crabbing is right on your doorstep at Chesil Beach, and there’s plenty of family friendly history fun on offer at Corfe Castle
Weymouth is also home to the Sea Life Adventure Park, and you’ll find the Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre deep in the Doorstep countryside
Lastly, a personal favourite – Lyme Regis makes a great little day trip, with plenty of pretty shops, seafront restaurants and a wide stretching swathe of golden sand
Compared to the rest of the Luxury Family Hotels, Moonfleet Manor falls at the more affordable end – in low season, you’re looking from anywhere around £140, while during period periods these range upwards of £335 p/night (prices stated are for entry level options, sleeping 2 adults and a baby)
‘The hotel has recently undergone a pretty extensive renovation and everything looks BEAUTIFUL. It’s the perfect blend of decadent and comfy. It gave me Beauty & The Beast vibes. The rooms manage to be airy and roomy plus very homely at the same time. Alongside the necessities you’d expect from a luxury hotel, Moonfleet really go the extra mile and have thought through all of the added extras you need as a parent (and may have forgotten to pack). There’s pull out toddler beds, cots, highchairs, strollers, buckets and spades, kites, goggles and tonnes of other items you can borrow’
@susiejverrill
‘We’ve just had a few days away at Moonfleet Manor – it’s such a fab place! My three absolutely loved it. It was exceptionally family friendly with entertainment for all ages, which is great if you have more than one tiny traveller. The Four Bears Den was fantastic – my girls loved the ladies running it and the activities, especially making s’mores in the woodland and painting canvases. The rooms were clean and spacious and I loved the added extras like the free coffee machine in the indoor play area, and the bedtime milk and cookies’
@sheandhem
‘We booked a lovely two bedroom suite, and the room was set up perfectly on arrival with all the elements we had asked for (bed guard, potty, baby monitor) as well as a lovely bed and treats for our dog! The food was delicious and the kids menu had lots of options. We had pre-booked for our little man to have his dinner at 5.30pm, and it was lovely for him to be able to eat in the lounge so we could relax with a glass of wine by the fireplace. We made use of 90mins free childcare daily at the Four Bears Den Kids Club and our little man had an amazing time, often not wanting it to end!’

Calling out to all little nature and wildlife lovers – we’ve found your perfect pad in the New Forest. With resident ponies and deer to befriend, countless woodland trail adventures and a spoiling spa for mum and dad, New Park Manor is purpose built for restorative family breaks – where there’s little on the agenda besides relaxation and recreation
Best bits:
Bear in mind:
You’ll find New Park Manor just outside of renowned New Forest village Lyndhurst, the largest in the area and the appointed ‘nature capital’. There are a wide range of tea rooms, restaurants and pubs to explore, not to mention the New Forest Heritage Centre, Postcard pretty Brockenhurst is less than a 10 minute drive away too, while Beaulieu (famed for its wild roaming ponies and pond) can be easily reached in 15 minutes by car
The New Forest is jam packed with attractions for all ages and interests. For starters, (whisper it), Peppa Pig World is 20 minutes down the road, or if you’re looking for something a little more serene, Beaulieu Estate is home to a ‘skytrain’ monorail, exquisite gardens, adventure playground and the National Motor Museum. Marwell Zoo, Long Down Activity Farm and the New Forest Wildlife Park make great picks
The big question… how much does it cost? During low season, you can find rooms from as little as £210 p/night, whilst during the summer and school holidays, you’re looking at £305 p/night plus (prices stated are for entry level options, sleeping 2 adults and a baby)
‘There’s a lovely English country house vibe to the decor at New Park Manor; think bright and airy rather than stuffy. We stayed in the one-bedroom suite, which had a separate living area where we found the travel cot set up for us. It was heaven to put our toddler to bed and still be able to watch TV! There was a big bathroom with a bath and kids’ toiletries, as well as Bramley products for the grown ups. My favourite thing was opening the curtains in the morning to watch a misty sunrise over the beautiful New Forest countryside – bliss. If you’re travelling with preschoolers, this hotel caters for your every need’
@sophie_hines_
‘ We stayed in a two bedroom suite at New Park Manor which was very spacious (and I’d highly recommend if you have more than 1 child). There were even bed rails up ready and waiting, which was a lovely touch instead of us piling pillows around. In the heart of the magical New Forest, it is 20 mins from Paultons Park (& Peppa Pig World) – the perfect pad to retreat back to after a day of adventure’
@poshlemons
‘We’ve just got back from two nights over half term at New Park Manor. It’s recently been refurbished and is beautiful! It has an indoor and outdoor pool, which children are *always* allowed in, open from 7.30am every day. It has brilliant onsite childcare – we actually booked extra sessions too, as well as the complimentary 90 minutes every day – as my 5 year old absolutely LOVED going to the Den. Parents – this means you have time to relax in the adults only hot tubs, or share a cocktail at the bar!’

If your idea of holiday heaven is having (almost) unlimited room to roam in spectacular countryside surroundings, hold the phone – we’ve found your spot. With 1,800 acres of National Trust parkland to enjoy whenever you feel like it (even out of hours), The Ickworth packs a punch when it comes to outdoor adventures
Best bits:
Bear in mind:
Occupying a sprawling parkland spot in the heart of leafy Suffolk, The Ickworth sits just a couple of miles outside of Bury St Edmunds. With 1,800 acres of National Park estate to explore at your leisure, there are upteen secret gardens and hidden lakes to uncover, thousands of trees to climb and almost as many sheep to befriend amidst the tantalizing tranquility. Bury St Edmunds itself is a historic market and cathedral town, with a colourful 1,000 year history. It is commonly known as ‘the gem in Suffolk’s crown’ thanks to it’s beautiful sights and unique shopping & dining experiences
Mini wizards and witches will be enthralled by Lavenham. Less than 30 minutes down the road, it’s home to many sights famous for being Harry Potter film backdrops. The River Stour promises idyllic boat trips amidst postcard and picnic-perfect scenery. Explore 4×4 is home to countless outdoor adventures, from survival challenges to clay pigeon shooting, off roading and archery. Giffords Hall Vineyard marries relaxed wine tastings with plenty of room to run wild, and last but not least, renowned Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park is 45 mins away
A brilliant option for those seeking a budget-friendly family retreat, off season prices start from as little as £195 p/night while peak rates are perfectly palatable too, at £300 p/night plus
‘You name it, The Ickworth supplied it. Cots, changing mats, nappy bins and bottle warmers in the room, highchairs in the restaurants and a handheld baby monitor or babysitters for post-bedtime wining and dining. For muddy walks, there were even wellies to borrow,. The family-friendly touches meant kids could keep occupied whilst parents actually had a holiday. In the day, there were outdoor playgrounds next to sun loungers, daily storytime sessions, an indoor games room for older children and a pool with children’s floats. You also get 90 minutes of free childcare per day at the Ofsted-registered Four Bear’s Den, so you can drop your little one off and cycle around the stunning scenery, play tennis or have a romantic walk around the walled garden. Movie screenings supplied with popcorn were on the agenda at night, where parents enjoyed a cocktail on the comfy sofas nearby’
@laurendaniellequinn
‘We had a room overlooking the parkland – we actually chose The Ickworth as during your stay, you get out of hours access to the National Trust estate which is amazing. Long after it is shut to the public, you can go out and make the most of the kids adventure play area, and the beautiful buggy friendly track through the grounds out to the sheep fields, which is absolutely stunning. The family friendly facilities are almost endless – the amazing swimming pool was super warm, which was great for the kids and came stocked with lots of floats and pool toys. Another hit was the outdoor trampoline, and the on site mini cinema. The food was brilliant too – it was all in the attention to detail’
@rebeccaloves__
‘My personal favourite of the Luxury Family Hotel is The Ickworth – a grand country house but totally baby, child & dog friendly – as in there were children (including mine) playing the ‘floor is lava’ on cushions in the library at one point and nobody blinked an eye. There are rooms of all different sizes available, baby monitors (which work anywhere in the hotel) are given for free, 90 mins of complimentary crèche time a day, child-friendly mealtimes and menus (they’re quite happy to whip you up a specific vegetable purée), a pool, bikes to hire and it’s also on a National Trust site with an epic playground!’
