For an easy escape without going properly long-haul, the Canary Islands, Cape Verde and Madeira are brilliant November bets. You’ll get some much-needed sunshine, outdoor adventures and temperatures that feel considerably more civilised than the UK, without a marathon flight. The Canary Islands are the easiest all-rounder, while Cape Verde is your best bet if you want proper beach-and-pool weather
