What is special about Domes Resorts?
For starters, we’ve lost count of the glowing reviews we’ve received from parents who have been – they’re literally in their hundreds! And the countless awards don’t disagree either… The overarching theme? Domes deliver the kind of hassle free holidays you thought impossible with kids – thanks to creative childcare, all inclusive options, tonnes of baby bits and beaches in easy reach. But all (very importantly if you ask us) without compromising on your adult tastes
At Domes, they do things a bit differently, so to explain a couple of unique initiatives you’ll find across some of their hotels:
- ‘CORE’ open air plazas – buzzing, communal urban spaces fusing streetfood style dining with contemporary art, entertainment & pop up shops. Rest assured, there’s always plenty going on! At both Domes of Corfu and Domes of Elounda
- Haute Living Selection options – Elite ‘hotel within a hotel’ concept with unique benefits and VVIP access to exclusive spaces, serving all day local delicacies, fruit and salads, and branded wines, spirits and juices
What is the childcare like at Domes Resorts?
Domes’ childcare is all based around the concept of KiEPOS (meaning ‘Greek Garden’), delivering fun yet educational experiences grounded in a Montessori approach
Operating 6 days a week, Domes Kids’ Clubs run both morning and afternoon sessions (each 3 hours long) plus has a ‘Family Time’ slot between 1pm-3pm, where parents are free to use the facilities to play with their children. The Kids’ Clubs cater for 4-12 year olds and are complimentary, available at Domes of Elounda, Domes of Corfu, Domes Zeen Chania, Domes Lake Algarve & Domes Novos Santorini (just not at 91 Athens Riviera)
Some resorts also offer a paid creche from tinier tots, from 4 months to 4 years – namely Elounda, Corfu, Zeen Chania & Lake Algarve (so again, no Athens, and no Santorini this time too)
Bigger kids aren’t forgotten either, with dedicated Teen zones at Elounda, Corfu & Lake Algarve
With a specially designed agenda according to age group, activities range from messy play, botanical crafts and gardening to obstacle courses, Greek theatre mask making and yoga for kids. The priority is always to connect children to their surroundings, each other, and local flavours – and encourage little green fingers
Evening babysitting is available too, at all of the Domes’ destinations, with fully trained staff who can be booked in advance or while staying at the resorts

Domes of Corfu: Best for total tranquility. This one is for you if you’re looking for the ultimate fly and flop, with no reason to leave the resort – as there’s plenty of activities & entertainment right there
Domes Zeen Chania: Best for the kind of bohemian beachfront living you thought only possible pre-tiny travellers. This one is for you if design-led destinations (& delicious dining) top your wish list
Domes Lake Algarve: Best for reconnecting with nature and stunning scenery. This one will particularly please water babies, with lots of sparkling swimming spots and beautiful beaches

Where is it?
A short 8 minute drive from the cosmopolitan town of Elounda, a picturesque fishing harbour, immaculate beaches, lots of little restaurants and quaint neighbouring villages are in easy reach
The cute local fishing village of Plaka is a 10 minute stroll away from the resort, and has a handful of traditional tavernas and quiet rocky coves to explore
Flight & Transfer times
Fly to Heraklion Airport in Crete, which is a 4 hour flight from London airports. At the other end, your private transfer to the hotel will take around an hour
What is there to do nearby?
UNESCO protected Spinalonga Island , a former leper colony waiting to be explored, is a very short boat ride away and makes for a stunning day trip. Also within a stone’s throw is buzzing and authentic Agios Nikolaos, teeming with restaurants and cultural spots
Historic sights from ancient olive groves to monasteries and mountains are all in easy reach, and Crete’s aquarium and the largest waterpark on the island are under an hour away, too
Without leaving the hotel grounds, explore ‘CORE’, a sprawling green urban space and hive of excitement within the hotel. The open air plaza hums with activity, from art to gastronomy, wellness and culture. Think huge murals, food trucks, water features, an outdoor cinema and more
What is there for Tiny Travellers?
Like all Domes Resorts, the question is what’s not provided? As well as plenty of baby bits (from bottle sterilisers and bouncers to potties and pool safety gates), there is a paid creche from 4 months (with some Tiny Traveltrip bookings receiving a free session), a complimentary, Ofsted-registered Kids Club from 4 and the option of evening babysitting
There are also tonnes of activities on a regular agenda for children, including puppet performances, live theatre, alfresco cinema screenings, bubble shows, trampolines, treasure hunts, balloon sculpting and cooking sessions (to name just a few!)
In keeping with Domes’ ‘KiEPOS’ childcare concept (meaning ‘Greek Garden’), youngsters are also invited to enjoy hands on, sensory outdoor experiences including planting and growing their own veggies
Best time to visit
Enjoying hot, dry summers and mild winters, Crete has a lovely long sunny season from May through to the end of September. It’s not unusual for vitamin D to still be in plentiful supply come October, though temperatures are definitely more hit and miss (which is reflected in holiday prices – if you want to bag a real bargain, it may be worth taking your chances)
Generally speaking, Crete is slightly hotter than Corfu (below) at all times during the year, when it comes to both the air and sea temperatures

Perfect for those looking for a luxurious fly-and-flop, Domes of Corfu is tucked on the island’s secluded west coast, rich in pristine beaches, lush greenery and see-it-to-believe-it sunsets. With all the same adult indulgences you’ll find at Domes of Elounda, the key difference is getting out and about – though what Corfu lacks in neighbouring villages, it more than makes up for in total tranquility. Our tip? Book a family yacht cruise for magical memory making
Best bits:
- Just a 25 minute transfer from Corfu Airport
- Lower price point than other Domes Resorts
- Kids Splash Pool and playground – as well as a huge Family Pool and private sandy beach
- All of your adult indulgences including the Soma Spa, Haute Living Selection upgrades, ‘CORE’ plaza, and four restaurants plus three bars (including a beautiful beach club) with full board options
Bear in mind:
- While shared ‘swim up’ pool rooms are available, unlike Elounda private pools or outdoor jacuzzis aren’t standard with all room types
- Weather can be a little more hit and miss, especially at the beginning and end of the season

Domes of Corfu is nestled on calm, sheltered Glyfada Bay on the west coast of the island, amidst forested hills, olive groves and lots of lush, native greenery. A hidden refuge which enjoys gorgeous sea views, the spot is particularly well positioned to enjoy Corfu’s magical sunsets, and the sound of lapping waves is never too far away
Flight & Transfer times
Fly into Corfu Airport (the only one on the island), which is a 3 hour 15 minute flight from London airports. A super speedy transfer awaits at the other end, as the hotel is just a 25 minute drive away (as with all the other Tiny Traveltrip options, a private transfer with appropriate car seats can be arranged for you)
What is there to do nearby?
In a unique location between a forest and the Ionian sea, Domes of Corfu is a slightly further flung from neighbouring towns than other options, such as Domes of Elounda – making it a great option for those seeking total tranquility
That being said, Corfu Old Town is still just a 25 minute drive away. Steeped in history, winding cobblestone alleyways are lined with vibrant restaurants and shops, plus there are two ancient forts to explore
Elsewhere on the island, world class beaches promise salty skin and sandy toes, from soft golden shores to secluded rocky coves
Nicknamed ‘The Emerald Isle’, Corfu offers ample opportunity to reconnect with nature. Home to thousands of wildflower species, sprawling meadows and cypress forests, the island is a green haven of romantic old estates and hidden gardens
What is there for Tiny Travellers?
A common theme across all featured Domes Resorts, wave goodbye to packing stress as almost everything you could need will be ready and waiting – we’re talking changing mats, bottle sterilisers, bouncers, cots, highchairs, pool safety gates and more
As well as a huge Family Pool, Domes of Corfu also has a dedicated Kids Splash Pool, a playground, and a vast stretch of private sandy beach (named one of the best on the island)
In terms of childcare, qualified babysitters can be booked for 15eur per hour. As with Domes of Elounda, there is a complimentary KiEPOS Kids Club from 4-12, embracing a Montessori-based approach across tonnes of activities. And again, like Elounda, there’s also a KiEPOS creche for tiny tots, caring for those 4 months to 4 years to Ofsted standards
Best time to visit
Your surest bet to enjoy non-stop sunshine? Book a break in June, July or August when temperatures hang around 25°C (and rarely drop below 20°C)
May and September are far from out of the question, but be prepared to complement your sunbathing with sightseeing, should the weather take a turn

The definition of bohemian beachfront living, Domes Zeen Chania is heaven-sent for design-driven parents. This small but perfectly formed resort is the closest you’ll come to grown up, pre-baby getaways, with an air of exclusivity and tailored family experiences. This intimate spot is probably best suited for tinier travellers as opposed to busier, bigger children, who will be enchanted by the lush, hidden Kids Club (think yurts, tee-pees & a splash pool where free-roaming fun is encouraged)
Best bits:
- Just a 30 minute transfer from Chania Airport
- Arguably one of the most aesthetically pleasing of all the Domes resorts (giving away it’s adult-only past)
- The two restaurants have received some of the most positive reviews we’ve heard when it comes to hotel dining
- Open air Soma spa in the middle of the jungle
- Walking distance to magical Chania Old Town
Bear in mind:
- Zeen Chania has less going on by way of activities and entertainment for ages 4+
- The private beach is pebbly as opposed to sandy
- Though the food options are five star, there are only 2 on site restaurants offering up to a half board basis

A 30 minute walk (or 10 minute drive) away from Chania on the Greek island of Crete, Zeen offers a best of both worlds break, feeling both totally tranquil and secluded while being in easy reach of charming nearby towns
As well as a private pebbly beach (literally on your doorstep), there are dozens of alluring seaside spots within a stone’s throw, including the golden sands of Falassarna and the tropical beauty at Balos

What is there to do nearby?
One of the oldest settlements in the world, Chania Old Town is a tantalising mix of ancient & new. A real whirlwind for the senses, it is full of vibrant sights, smells and sounds to soak up. Just ten minutes from Zeen, wander round the romantic old harbour and iconic 16th century lighthouse, before exploring rustic alleys to uncover charming openair markets
A must visit for anyone in the north of Crete, Seitan Limania is a hidden cove renowned for it’s clear waters, soft white sands and dramatic rocky surroundings
What is there for Tiny Travellers?
An idyllic and intimate atmosphere perfect for tiny tots, at Zeen Chania you’ll find a creche from 4 months, plus babysitting services, and Domes trademark extensive baby bits to borrow
The enchanted Kids Club (4+) is found amongst lush jungle foliage, and places an emphasis on eco-activities and tailored family experiences – as well as having it’s own children’s pool, in addition to the main family friendly swimming spot
The private pebbly beach also deserves another shoutout for being especially shallow and serene, perfect for paddling with little ones
Best time to visit
There’s no denying that for a sun blessed summer escape, you’ll want to hedge your bets and book a break from May through until the end of September
While July and August pull in the biggest crowds, thanks to school being out for summer, June & September often beckon wonderfully warm weather with a lower price tag (and more sunbathing space)

A break from the norm, Domes Lake Algarve is the collection’s only outpost outside of Greece, and things look a little different (yet no less luxurious). Leaning into local influences, the decor includes beautiful handcrafted pieces, and there are lots of family experiences and attractions on offer making the most of the scenic surroundings – both in the resort & beyond
Best bits:
- Just a 30 minute transfer from Faro Airport
- Portugal reliably stays warmer for longer compared to Greek counterparts (meaning May and October getaways are a lot less risky)
- Tonnes of options for water babies, with a family swimming spot plus a unique sand-bottomed swimming pool, and a wide golden beach 2 minutes away
- A short wander away from buzzing Vilamoura Marina
- Domes’ signature Soma Spa, plus Haute Living Selection option
Bear in mind:
- Domes Lake Algarve is usually one of the most expensive resorts within the collection
- There is also no buzzing ‘CORE’ urban plaza, for which Domes is renowned (though the aforementioned marina makes up for it)

In the heart of Portugal’s Algarve region, with views across cosmopolitan Vilamoura Marina, Domes Lake Algarve is a sprawling palace sat on the edge of it’s own private lake
A region renowned for both it’s golden beaches and birdlife, Portugal’s south coast has natural beauty by the bucketload, lending itself to a wealth of rich experiences – from National Park tours, to wine tasting experiences, traditional fishing boat trips and wildlife spotting excursions
Flight & Transfer times
Fly into Faro Airport (which is served by tonnes of services from the UK), just a 3 hour flight from London. Look forward to a swift, speedy transfer upon arrival, as Domes Lake Algarve is just a 30 minute transfer away from the airport
What is there to do nearby?
At Lake Algarve, life revolves in, on or by the water. There are a vast array of blue-flag awarded beaches nearby, encouraging a slower pace of life as you wander between sun lounger, pool, beach and back again
At Vilamoura Marina, just a five minute wander away, there are tonnes of restaurants, bars and shops to explore (including more than a couple of designer spots). Or take it easy, pull up a pew, and watch the luxury yachts go by
And golf enthusiasts, hold on to your hats – there’s not one but five beautiful courses in neighbouring Vilamoura (and a further 25 within an hour!)
What is there for Tiny Travellers?
Where to start? Baby bits aside (you’ll find the same extensive, parental paraphernalia as at their other outposts) there’s a whole host of activities for the kids to get stuck into – regardless of age
Got yourself a mini Rory McIlroy? Tiny travellers aged 6 and up can enjoy free, private one-to-one lessons from June until the end of September
Whole family activities know no bounds with horseback riding, watersports, kayaking, dolphin spotting and mini golf all on the agenda (and we’re pretty sure we’ve missed some, too)
Domes’ traditional KiEPOS childcare offering is also alive and well in the Algarve, with a creche from 4 months, complimentary Kids Club from 4 – 12 years, and qualified babysitters available
Outside of the hotel, the Algarve has a spoiling selection of family friendly attractions too, from go karting to zoos and aquariums, answering everyone’s interests

Not your typical Santorini stay (read: an island that famously *isn’t* family friendly), Domes Novos Santorini cleverly pairs it’s trademark childcare and parent pleasing practicalities with a prime location, sensational sunsets, gastronomic cuisine and a spa to make the Gods swoon. A very good reason to add the island back on to your bucketlist, very generously sized bungalows with heated private pools await. The smallest of all the Domes outposts, think less ‘resort’ and more ’boutique bolthole’
Best bits:
- Just a 20 minute transfer from Santorini Airport
- A complimentary shuttle ferries little legs to iconic Oia – or if you’d rather, it’s a 20 minute walk away
- Did we mention the private pools are heated?
- The spa is definitely worth writing home about (and the Kids Club & babysitters mean you can actually enjoy it!)

Tucked into the northern tip of the island, Domes Novos Santorini is only 20 minutes from iconic Oia on foot, or a 5 minute drive via the complimentary daily transfer (which runs at 11:30 AM for drop-off with a return at 1:30 PM, and 6:30 PM for drop-off with a return at 10:30 PM)
The closest beach, Katharos, is an 8 minute drive away. With a black pebble shoreline, crystal clear waters and other-worldly atmosphere, it’s not one to miss
Flight & Transfer times
It’s a 4 hour flight from London to Santorini Airport, and once you arrive, the end is in sight almost immediately! Jump in a transfer (did you know we can arrange one for you?) and you’ll be warmly welcomed at the resort within 20 minutes
What is there to do nearby?
Wander Oia’s boutique-laden alleys, admiring the archetypal Aegean architecture and snapping countless caldera shots. Make sure to include an ice cream stop at Lolitas Gelato before slinking back to the hotel
Or if you’re looking for a more under the radar alternative, Finikia is one of the most tranquil villages on the island. Largely car-free, little legs can safely roam the cobblestone streets, while parents awe at the cave houses, dinky church, resident donkeys and uninterrupted seascape
What is there for Tiny Travellers?
Most notably at Novos, you won’t find a creche for tinier travellers – but there’ are still an awful lot of thoughtful family touches on offer
As well as the cots and highchairs you’d expect, there are children’s menus, babysitting and a complimentary Kids Club (4+) available for your mini mes
The hotel shuttle service to Oia is a lifesaver for little legs, and unusually for boltholes on this bucket-list island, Novos Santorini boasts a spacious layout, with pockets of peace at every turn (meaning you won’t feel squeezed in like sardines with tensions running high, but have plenty of space to sprawl)
Best time to visit
The hotel’s season starts in the middle of April and runs through until the end of October. A haven of tranquility, it’s easy to forget how busy Santorini’s summer is, when you’re living your best life within the confines of the calm resort
Cool breezes punctuate sunny spells of mid 20s in April and May, while highs of 26 degrees stretch out into the summer. If you want to avoid tonnes of tourists with your sightseeing, opt for a shoulder season getaway

In prime riviera position, there are plenty of cute little restaurants and bars to discover a short walk away (we’re talking under 15 minutes, even accounting for little legs!)
Or hop in a car and your options are almost endless, as you head the 10 minutes to glamourous Glyfada. A seaside spot favoured by Athen’s locals with a love for the finer things, expect upscale shopping and vibrant eateries with plenty of ancient architecture thrown in for good measure
And last but by no means least, introducing hidden haven of rest and relaxation, Lake Vouliagmeni (only 11 minutes from 91 Athens Riviera). Boasting a swimmable bath-water warm lake surrounded by sun loungers, there’s also a spa hidden under the pine trees and destination restaurant worth writing home about
What is there for Tiny Travellers?
There’s no beating around the bush, 91 Athens Riviera is the ‘lightest’ of the bunch when it comes to stuff for tiny travellers. Let’s start with what you will find –
Cots and highchairs (of course), as well as a kids menu, babysitters upon request, purpose designed ‘Family Cabanas’ with separate sleeping spaces & plunge pools, a private child friendly beach steps away, and little-legs-approved location (in walking distance to nearby restaurants)
Meaning that unlike the other hotels, there’s no Kids Club or extensive list of baby bits to borrow (we’d call it ‘family friendly’, as opposed to ‘family focused’). But what we can promise, is the same warm welcome for little ones – so really, it comes down to your personal travel style
Best time to visit
Unlike other Domes’ resorts, 91 Athens Riviera is open year round! And the beauty of this Grecian getaway is that there’s something to appeal, whatever the season. Peak summer can be sweltering with highs of 29 – 32 degrees, but personal plunge pools provide the ideal post sight-seeing soak
Winter in Athens is a *lot* more palatable than the UK (hovering around 23 degrees in October and 18 degrees in November)
April & May would be our top pick, with spring sunshine sitting between 20-25 degrees. Plus, if you want to avoid tonnes of tourists, there’s a lot to be said for shoulder season getaways
