Whilst we never considered soft play high on our holiday hotlist pre-kids, there’s no denying our little uns love it. Amathus Beach Hotel is one of a rare breed that seamlessly weaves endless entertainment for kids with plenty of adult indulgences. Tiny Travellers will go wild for the waterslides, face painting and pizza making, whilst teens are sure to love the obstacle course floating in the sea. With offspring offloaded to the Kids Club parents are free to indulge in their own lunch time nap – on the sublime sandy beach, or on a treatment bed in the subterranean spa. With interconnecting rooms, aquatic activities for all ages, children’s menus and babysitting services, this sprawling seaside stay is designed to be the ultimate ease for parents. An affordable all inclusive (quietly) boasting a serene sea frontage, collection of 6 locally-led restaurants (where fresher-than-fresh ingredients are provided by the hotel’s own fruit & veg plantation), award-winning spa and impressively comprehensive childcare setup. Babes from as young as 6 months are wonderfully catered to in the Kids Club, while teen-tantrums are kept at bay with their own ‘night club’ and Film Academy – a really engaging workshop where they can design, act and edit their own movie, with the help of professionals. The entertainment on offer at Azia Resort and Spa is unparalleled, and runs from AM to PM. We’re talking; zumba classes, archery, volleyball, family yoga, zorbing, mini discos, karaoke and DJ sets. The accommodation is perfectly geared towards families with spacious suites providing separate sleep spaces, and Interconnecting Sea View Rooms welcoming gangs of up to six. Should you wish to venture outside of the resort, although we wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t, there’s a gorgeous path along the ocean (with bikes and baby seats to borrow), plus mini golf and an Animal Park on the doorstep

Elysium Hotel

With a name that means ‘utopian bliss’, the Elysium Hotel in Paphos has set itself a high bar to live up to. And spoiler alert – we can verify the moniker is befitting of this five star haven. Food is a big focus here, and the hotel lays claim to some of the best restaurants in the area. Guests are taken on a culinary world-tour through Italy, Asia and Cyprus, with menus in every restaurant reflecting a commitment to farm-to-fork fare. In addition to an impressive dining scene, Elysium’s other drawcard is its well conceived family set up. Enter a brilliant Kids Club (4 months +), complete with softplay and plenty of role play; mental-load reducing packing service; generously sized family suites & interconnecting rooms; outdoor playground; and sweet slide into a toddler-friendly pool. Also on site you’ll find tennis courts, a rejuvenating spa and option for scuba diving. Luxury meets locality in the design itself, plus, you’re only a 30 minute drive from the sights and smells of Paphos city – which is as rich in culture as it is in child-friendly day trips

Annabelle

The third sister to Almyra and Anassa, Annabelle is the shiniest of the bunch, thanks to a semi-recent (and super spenny) facelift. The glamourous hotel offers the best of both worlds for parents. Childcare from 4 months + is readily available, but handily for those who prefer a more serene swimming pool scene, kids are checked into their supervised sessions at neighbouring Almyra. Holiday highs don’t stop there either. Luggage loads are lightened with the hotel’s signature Baby Go Lightly packing service. Mealtimes are pretty marvellous too, with guests on half or full board packages also welcome to dine at the restaurants at Almyra, plus the Antasia Beach Club. Rooms are spacious, with guaranteed (!) interconnecting options, and are all immaculately designed with riviera-inspired white and blue decor. The rooftop spa is particularly special, and the real cherry on the cake for us is the location – a short stroll away from Paphos port, where you’ll find buckets of freshly caught seafood in the restaurants lining the harbour
