One of the rare breed of hotels that include the littlest of legs in their childcare offering, the brilliant Kids Club here starts from 4 months. Sitting stylishly on Paphos’ promenade, just steps from the city itself, aesthetically alluring Almyra gives guests a tranquil base in prime position for exploring. The trio of onsite restaurants have been favourably compared to Ikos for foodie fanatics, while the slick spa is a winner for any wellness warriors

Almyra

Cyprus

Almyra was in the top 3 of the places we visited for child friendly and allergy friendly eating without us having to compromise as adults! Very hard to find and so amazing when you do find it! My eldest son (who was 3.5 at the time) has CMPA and the hotel were really accommodating. There was a lot of choice for him with dishes that were milk free and milk alternatives readily available, the staff after the first day knew what he liked to eat and brought it over as we arrived for breakfast and if we asked for dishes to be altered to be dairy free (dairy free pizza was a favourite for lunch!) it was never a problem. This extended to the restaurants at Annabelle too and the Italian was a particular hit for us all with lots of variety for him and us. We were just staring to wean our youngest (at 6 months which was how old he was at the time) and there were even options for him. It made the travelling so much easier knowing that the hotel was so child and allergy friendly. The supermarket was a short walk and it also had lots of dairy alternative milks and allergy friendly snacks as well as lots of baby supplies!

Mitsis Selection Blue Domes, Kos

Far removed from high-rise resorts, Mitsis Blue Domes feels more like a traditional Grecian village, with white-washed, pastel-topped buildings fanning out around a snaking swimming pool. The setup works brilliantly for multi-gen groups of all ages, thanks to a culturally considered Kids Club (4+), inflatable ocean obstacle course for teens and nap-trap-eliminating private pool rooms. All inclusive foodie fare is dished up across 7 a la carte restaurants, with globetrotting menus spanning Italian to Pan-Asian

Princesa Yaiza

Lanzarote

We’ve now been to Princesa Yaiza three times and always feel safe returning with my daughter who has allergies to dairy, egg, soya and sesame. The head chef meets us at breakfast on the first morning and walks us round the buffet. We always find him very knowledgeable about the food, and even offers to make us our own fresh fried food (churros, potatoes, pancakes etc), as they’re usually cooked in shared oil. The buffet is vast and there is so much more choice than other places we’ve visited. Add to that - there’s a great ice cream shop locally, which sells vegan gelato, gluten free cones and has fantastic allergy procedures

Domes of Elounda, Crete

Our Insider Intel

On a private beach lapped by turquoise water, and a short stroll from the picturesque fishing village, Plaka, Domes of Elounda is a downright dreamy destination and one expertly designed with families in mind. Exclusively a ‘Suites and Villas’ only outpost, all home-from-homes have plenty of space and come equipped with a private pool or jacuzzi. There’s a chargeable creche from 4 months, complimentary Kids Club from 4, teen activities and an elevated take on evening entertainment. Think: puppet performances, under the star cinema nights and bubble shows

We stayed at Domes of Elounda and our son has a peanut allergy. The buffet was very helpful as it listed all possible allergens, making it easy to check without having to ask

Every age group is catered for at Creta Maris, from the much-loved Kids Club (4+), and the epic onsite water park for easily bored tweens, to the mighty evening entertainment offering. Parents won’t have anything to complain about either. Family facilities are definitely at their fingertips, but this amenity-armed resort comes packaged as a traditional village of pretty squares, white-washed buildings and olive-peppered pathways. Water babies, of all ages, can dip in and out of an impressive number of swimming pools, while food lovers are wined & dined in 7 outstanding restaurants

  • Each dish in the buffet restaurants has full allergy labeling, and guests can request fresh portions from the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination. 
  • Other restaurants have menus with clear allergen labels, and waiters take note of any allergies when taking orders

Crete

My son is anaphylactic to nuts and everything is clearly labelled and the chefs were happy to make him food fresh in the kitchen. The Head Chef came out when we arrived at each restaurant to go through the menu - all in all it’s a foodie heaven, really the best food we’ve ever had in a resort

Our Insider Intel

A bucket list destination for aquatic adrenaline junkies, the onsite waterpark at Atlantica Aegean Blue Rhodes will quench all thrill-thirsts. Boasting the full shebang of slides, it’s got everything from fast paced flumes to a more sedate splash pad. Back on dry land, the Kids Club starts from 4+, while the older set are entertained in their own ‘teen lounge’. An all-inclusive name to know for vegans, the meat and dairy free options here are exemplary

Atlantica Aegean Blue Rhodes

Rhodes

Atlantica Aegean Blue Rhodes was great for my son's severe allergies to dairy and egg. I always email ahead of a trip, so the hotel knew on check in that we had dietary requirements. We met with the restaurant manager shortly after arriving and every time we went to the buffet the manager would meet us and they’d cook food especially for us to order. We also had the same waiters everyday who got to know us and what our children like. Every morning they gave us an allergy menu to select food for the day, so we could order ahead. They made dairy free ice cream (which is a biggie for our 5 year old) and the separate ice cream stall had a selection too. We felt really reassured they had it all under control. We also booked some of the a la carte restaurants and had a similar positive experience in those too

An under-the-radar hidden gem offering epic entertainment for sprogs in a serene seaside setting, with an unbeatable cost:convenience ratio. Designed to resemble a traditional village, parents in pursuit of ‘true-to-the-country’ experiences get the best of both worlds here; access to local living and plenty of fabulous facilities to keep tots on their toes. Plump for one of the recently renovated Serenity Seafront Suites for more modern interiors (think: monochrome palettes featuring blonde wood and rattan)

Every evening the staff kindly went through buffet options very clearly with us. There was already lots of choice for gluten and dairy free. At breakfast they made us fresh pancakes on request. I couldn't recommend enough and the staff went out of their way to be accommodating

It’s rare to find a hotel as universally loved as the Ritz Carlton Abama, Tenerife. Guests who grace the walls of this pink palace have nothing but glowing reviews to share

For most of our stay we dined at the hotel. One of our favourite things about this hotel is how allergy friendly they were. Our daughter has a severe egg allergy and they were extremely attentive to her dietary requirements

My son has allergies and they have a dedicated Head of Allergies who managed to turn up at every restaurant we ate in to brief the staff and check everything was ok for us. I also had her on WhatsApp - it was beyond anything I’ve experienced before. Service wise, Ikos wins on all fronts

Shaking up the traditional supervised session scene, ALL ages are welcome to the Kids Club at Feuerstein Nature Family Resort. Yep, we’re talking newborns plus. Not stopping there, the smallest of guests are truly SPOILED for choice here, with a mud room, painting studio, Ninja Parkour, pony rides and mini farm visits all on the agenda. The outdoor mountain-gazing infinity pool is really rather special, and so is the delicious full board dining. Family rooms here come complete with separate bunkbed spaces, and thoughtful tiny touches extend to nightly bedtime stories

Italy

The food was amazing and you had your own table which was reserved every day so no queuing. I had gluten free bread waiting on ours every day. Food is all included - buffet for breakfast and lunch plus live cooking stations then a la carte for dinner which was INCREDIBLE. So so good for allergies too
