Up in the north, Alcúdia is terrific location for families. The star attraction is the huge Playa de Alcúdia, a long, wide, sandy beach with calm, shallow waters that stay ankle-deep for ages, ideal for toddlers and little swimmers
Older kids will love pedal boats, kayaks, and even sailing lessons available right on the beach along with plenty of loungers and umbrellas to rent and little cafes to grab lunch. Bliss
Alcúdia itself is steeped in history. The old town is surrounded by impressive medieval walls, and wandering the cobbled streets feels gives a real taste of old Mallorca. You’ll spot charming squares, historic churches, and traditional markets where locals sell fresh produce, crafts, and souvenirs
If you like Palma but don’t want to stay in a city, this gives a similar feel. Also take kiddos to explore the cool Roman ruins at Pollentia, just outside town, though go early in the summer months before it gets too hot
There’s tons of family-friendly accommodation and with that comes playgrounds, bike paths (you can easily hire bikes) and a lovely holiday atmosphere. Get the ‘parents of the year award’ by taking your tribe to nearby Hidropark, a massive waterpark with slides, wave pools and lazy rivers. Or set sail on pirate‑themed family boat trip (less tacky than it sounds!), dolphin‑spotting excursion or glass‑bottom boat tour. You really can fill your days easily in this great little area

Stay
If you’re after that sweet spot between happy kids and relaxed parents, Zafiro Palace Alcudia is it. Gorgeous family suites that sleep up to six, excellent kids’ clubs that entertain children aged from 4 to 15, and a family pool with slides – as well as an adults only pool and spa for mum and dad. Just a 5–10 minute, buggy-friendly stroll away from the beach, this is a great, luxe base where you can explore the local area or just stay put and chill by the pool
For for self-catering with hotel perks, Alcudia Garden Aparthotel makes things wonderfully simple. Baby essentials like cots and high chairs come as standard, and you can even prebook a buggy – such a helpful touch. For older kids, there’s an engaging entertainment programme for ages four and up, while adults can enjoy the spa, sports centre, and a range of watersports. With spacious apartments right by the beach, it’s an excellent choice for a relaxed family stay in this part of Mallorca

The overall vibe is calm and relaxed. It’s less party-focused than some resorts (no one here wants to be woken up at 2am by teenagers coming home from a nightclub) and it’s also a great base if you want to explore nearby villages or take scenic drives into the mountains
Stay
Duvabitat Apartments are a great choice if you like well-appointed spacious self-catering with tons of facilities and at sensible prices – who doesn’t? There are three outdoor pools, a spa, gym, tennis and paddle courts – just 700 metres from the town centre and a 20-minute walk from the beach – two big ticks right there. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, tennis courts, and a large sparkling pool, families have the choice of a self-catering stay or can make full use of the hotel’s four star facilities – including its three restaurants and a spa. While the apartments have one bedroom (with an additional sofa bed in a separate lounge area), cots are available free of charge plus children’s menus can be found in the eateries
At the far northern tip of the island lies the stunning Cap de Formentor, one of the most spectacular landscapes in Mallorca. The winding road that leads here is famous for its breathtaking views, sheer cliffs, and lookout points – a somewhat hair-raising adventure all on its own, but one that’s totally worth it for the jaw-dropping scenery
When you arrive head to the beautiful Playa de Formentor, a long, pale sandy beach backed by fragrant pine trees and incredibly clear turquoise water. Once you’ve been to this beach you’ll always want to go back
It’s also home to a fantastic beach club where families can chill out, enjoy tapas and soak up the sun in style. You’ll sit back feeling smug that you’ve discover the most picture-perfect spot with majestic mountains rising behind you and boats gently bobbing offshore. Dreamy
Here’s a fun tip: if you’re staying in nearby Port de Pollença, you can skip the winding mountain drive and catch a little ferry straight to Playa de Formentor instead. The short boat trip is a great adventure for kids and offers gorgeous views of the coastline from the water – plus, it means more time for paddling and less time navigating hairpin bends!
Formentor is quieter and less resort-focused than some other parts of the island, which is exactly why families who love nature and getting away from the buzz adore it. It’s the perfect spot to spend the day swimming, paddle boarding or just relaxing surrounded by some of Mallorca’s most stunning vistas
