Introducing Tiny TravelTrophies, our curated edit of the most recommended parent pleasing holidays of 2023. We’ve scoured our DMs, studied our emails and scrutinised the feed to bring you the hotels and homestays we’re constantly being told nail the needs of families, world over. Each and everyone has been visited and verified by a fellow mum or dad, so you know these awards are ones you can trust. Now all you have to do is start planning those 2024 adventures

Baby’s first holiday

Winner: Fowey Hall

No one looks after vacationing babies (and their sleep-deprived parents) as brilliantly as the Luxury Family Hotel group. Dotted across the south of England they have outposts in Cornwall, Dorset, Suffolk, the New Forest and the Cotswolds. Having undergone a recent renovation, it’s Fowey Hall that pips its siblings to the post as the most recommended family holiday hotspot for babes in arms. Four Bears Den – the Ofsted registered Kids Club – welcomes guests as young as 3 months. The best part? The 90 minutes of complimentary childcare a day. As if that wasn’t enough, baby listening devices are handed out upon check in (that work anywhere in the hotel), there’s a ‘milk butler’ service to take care of sterilising and heating bottles, plus an extensive list of baby paraphernalia provided. Picture this against a backdrop of postcard-perfect seaside scenery, and it’s clear why Fowey has brought so many parents joy this year

Runner up: The Peligoni Club

Unlike at a lot of hotels, the crèche at Peligoni welcomes tiny travellers from as young as 4 months and parents are never made to feel out of place in the boho chic surroundings. World class childcare aside, what really puts Peligoni in a league of its own when it comes to baby friendly holidays is the accommodation offering –  villas of all shapes, sizes and style surround the central ‘club’, allowing for space, privacy and self-catering flexibility, alongside hotel facilities. Add to that the genius packing service (freeing up more room in the suitcase for you!) and the gorgeous Grecian feasts, and it’s easy to see why Peligoni has been the name on everyone’s lips this summer

Having just undergone an amazing recent renovation, Fowey Hall is the epitome of cool & contemporary, with quirky designer touches from bespoke wallpaper to restored antiques

Peligoni totally lived up to the hype. It’s a unique proposition, chic and child friendly. It seems to be world famous this year, everyone you know will know someone who has been. There is a good reason for that. I am already trying to work out how to convince my husband to book again

Epic entertainment for children

Winner: Hillside Beach Club, Turkey

Far from being a once in a lifetime trip, Hillside boasts the highest returning guest rate we’ve ever seen – so impressive that it’s been studied by Harvard. Families come back every year for the faultless service, endless activities and idyllic setting. If your kids need an all-singing, all-dancing, round the clock epic entertainment kind of hotel to allow you to really switch off and have a good time, Hillside Beach Club offers the best of both worlds. There’s a baby park for children under three, but the hotel really comes into its own for those 4 +. ‘Kidside’ has its own waterslides, pool, workshops and children’s cabaret. Teens will appreciate the freedom (and safety) to roam, whilst the full board price tags means they’re welcome to satiate their never ending appetites, without the need for parents to dread the bill at the end of their stay. There’s morning yoga sessions on the deck, adults-only Silent and Serenity Beach (who more than live up to their name), two sumptuous spas and plenty more. Leading the charge of making resorts cool again, we’ve been told it’s the mums and dads kicking and screaming when forced to leave this parental paradise 

Runner up: Ritz Carlton Abama, Tenerife

A real dopamine destination for travellers big and small, the Ritz Carlton Abama is as far removed from the ‘tacky’ Tenerife stereotype as you can get. With the largest Ritz Carlton Kids Club (4+) in Europe, children’s activities are almost limitless – stargazing, cooking, tennis, watersports, they even have their own planetarium (!). A real multi-age mecca, teens aren’t forgotten either, thanks to The Zone, where you’ll find a rock stage for aspiring musicians, DJ booth, basketball nets, boxing zone and car racing simulators. For adults, inside the magical Moorish walls, you’ll find Michelin star dining and a first class spa. Outside, there’s a glorious golf course. If you’re looking for a faultless fly and flop, you couldn’t ask for more

Hillside Beach Club

Turkey

We’ve been to Hillside five times. First as a couple, then with our daughter as a baby, and then pretty much every year since! We can definitely say that children of any age are very welcome. The facilities are fab but the real reason we keep returning? The staff. 10/10 service without a doubt. Their motto ‘heaven on earth’ comes alive the moment you enter the resort

The hotel vibe is peaceful and chic. Although vast, it's also magically intimate. Our girls had so much fun in the family friendly lagoon pool, outdoor play areas and furnicular

Stylish Staycation

Winner: Watergate Bay, Cornwall

Cornwall? For summer? Groundbreaking. A tried and tested trope, there’s a reason families head to the Cornish coast in hordes. Those in the know book Watergate Bay, a sprawling seafront sanctuary that doesn’t feel heavily trodden by tourists. It’s impossible to get bored at this waterside wonderland, with activities for all ages. The chic Cornish aesthetics extend into the complimentary Kids Club (6 months +), where garish plastic is replaced with Scandi wooden toys, messy play, music and science experiments. Parents can decompress in the slick spa, or soak in the soul-stirring views from the glass-fronted infinity pool. Endless entertainment inside aside, the real crowning glory of Watergate Bay is its location – perfectly positioned on a two mile long stretch of golden sand (more than enough room for toddlers with energy to burn)

Runner up: The Farm at Avebury, Wiltshire

Receiving almost daily glowing reviews from our community of parents, The Farm at Avebury is the perfect retreat for rest and relaxation in the countryside. A stone’s throw from Stonehenge, you’ll find six gloriously converted stables, delivering a self-catering stay with a restaurant quality twist ( farm produce can be delivered straight to your stable door, including bacon and sausages for your morning breakfast or succulent steak for your dinner). An elevated home-from-home, the aesthetically pleasing bright and bold interiors act as super-stylish sensory stimulation whilst the Pinterest worthy kitchens make mealtimes a breeze. Designed by parents themselves every thought has gone into how families will use the space. Alongside cots and highchairs, nappy bins and baby baths are provided, plus there’s a beautiful communal courtyard outside of the rooms, within baby monitor reach, ideal for post-bedtime drinks. Whether you’re after summer strolls or wintry walks in wellies there’s an abundance of scenic routes right on your doorstep. Back at the farm, toddlers will love trying their hands at being farmers for the day or free roaming in the onsite play orchard

We've been coming back to Watergate Bay year after year, we love it so much. The pool is beautiful, the Kids Club has snooker tables, games consoles, books and boardgames and the views are breathtaking

The Farm at Avebury

Wiltshire

Our first born child is a furry one and we often find dog-and-family accommodation lacking in the style stakes. The Farm is an exceptional exception to the rule. Little Luna was treated to her own fluffy dog bed and miles of walks on the doorstep - all without a single compromise on adult aesthetics or ambience

Easy breezy beach break

Winner: Martinhal Sagres, Portugal

Chances are if you’re a parent you’ve heard of Martinhal Sagres in the Algarve, and for good reason – when it comes to fly-and-fun for the whole family they’re up there with the best in class. Portugal is highly regarded as one of the most beach blessed countries in the world, and the private sandy stretch at Sagres definitely demonstrates why. This is much more than your traditional family-focused hotel. Yes, the facilities are faultless, with 5 Kids Clubs welcoming tots to teens, daily football and watersports aplenty, but the real magic of Martinhal Sagres lies in the attention to detail to parents as adults, allowing them to indulge in the type of sophisticated getaways they were used to pre-kids. No parental pain point has gone unaddressed; there’s staff on hand to distract and delight children at tea time (name us a better luxury than being able to eat with two hands and your attention solely on your adult dinner date), a genius baby concierge service and even a weaning menu. The abundance of floor-to-ceiling windows, natural decor and surround sound ocean views keep the environment serene – a triumph of design when you consider the number of children happily running around

Runner up: Lux Le Morne, Mauritius

A perennial family favourite thanks to its impressive facilities, sugar white sands and private island vibes without the need of a seaplane transfer, Lux Le Morne tops the charts for a long haul beach break. True to its name the hotel oozes luxury, with impeccable service, bespoke wellness treatments (for mamas & minis), four outdoor pools, five on site restaurants. Low slung Balinese style rooms are scattered mere steps from the sea, nailing the golden baby monitor stretch. Nature takes centre stage here, with soul-soothing tropical greenery and crystal clear oceans. There’s a Kids Club for over 3s, where tiny travellers are introduced to the joys of island living, through shell painting, treasure hunts and nature walks, as well as a wealth of watersports on offer

A parental dream - a designer five-star, child friendly hotel - Martinhal Sagres welcomed us with warmth and total understanding of what (sleep deprived) parents need. Nestled within a protected national park next to one of Portugal's most beautiful beaches, its sleek, natural interiors reflected the zen we felt upon arrival

Lux Le Morne

Mauritius

The food at Lux le Morne was amazing. There are three restaurants - two a la carte and an incredible, ever-changing live-cooking buffet. The staff went out of their way to welcome and engage with Evie - they remember her name and her favourite foods (cheesy pasta for the win). All in all it’s a pretty magical place

Surprisingly family friendly vacay

Winner: Six Senses Zighy Bay, Oman

Synonymous with unrivalled natural beauty, a passion for wellness and sustainable (yet sexy) design, the Six Senses group is undeniably at the top of the luxury travel game, but family friendly? Actually, yes – in spades! Less in-your-face flashy than neighbouring Dubai, Oman is one of the best kept out-of-season sun secrets and a sure fire hit for parents. An incredible spa hotel in the middle of the desert might sound like a mirage and the pristine golden beaches and azure Arabian sea are certainly out of this world, but we promise dreams become reality here. Standalone villas and suites come equipped with private plunge pools and sand ‘gardens’. Whether you’re seeking a horizontal holiday or abundance of adventure, there’s something to satiate all travel tastes. There’s a Kids Club (4+) for tiny travellers, where activities include beach bowling, Arabic lessons and cookery classes. Whilst the offspring are being expertly entertained parents are free to indulge in a little wind down time (courtesy of the in-room mini wine cellar) 

Runner up: Quinta da Comporta, Portugal

‘Family friendly hotels’ can conjure up images of plastic fantastic parades, beige buffets and dancing mascots, whilst the risk of bringing tots into more adult ambiences includes disapproving looks from other guests, menus that won’t be eaten and a chorus of ‘I’m bored now’. Fear not, there is a middle ground, where tots are taken care of and parents are pampered. A carpet of cacti, rice paddies and glistening waters greet guests at Portugal’s Quinta da Comporta; a wellness resort which proves you can cater incredibly well to children without the need for a Kids Club.Tensions melt and shoulders drop the minute you enter the ‘grammable grounds (and if you need a little extra help decompressing the onsite spa is sublime). Slowing down and soaking up the sun and surrounds are highly encouraged, and easy to do. Everything from the glittering infinity pool to the serene interiors have been designed to soothe overstimulated minds. Tiny travellers are treated to family picnics, cooking workshops, cinema screenings and scenic bike rides to blissfully deserted beaches

Six Senses Zighy Bay is a beautiful mismash of the Maldives meets desert meets mountains. The hotel is completely secluded so you really feel are in the middle of nowhere. It really is like no other place I've been!

Quinta da Comporta

Portugal

Quinta da Comporta was sensational. The outdoor space is an absolute winner. To me, a parent pleasing hotel is somewhere boutique and accommodating to toddlers while not compromising on style and warmth - and Quinta delivers

All inclusive all star

Winner: Daios Cove, Crete

One of a new breed of All Inclusives where decor, dishes and details are all of exceptionally high quality, Crete’s luxurious Daios Cove is a name to know for foodies. Not only do the inventive menus offer a sensational take on local cuisine with a fine dining spin, it’s always easy to find an age appropriate highchair and there’s plenty to satisfy tiny tummies. Daios Cove’s reputation for satiating taste buds doesn’t end there. Ripping up the high rise rulebook, glossy magazine worthy cubist villas and rooms, many with private pools, are scattered around a private cove with soul-stirring sea views from every angle. Mum and Dad are free to kick back and relax on the beach or lounge around the infinity pool (making use of the all inclusive cocktail menu) whilst tiny travellers are in the Kids Club

Runner up: Domes Zeen Chania, Crete

Hitting it out of the park again, Crete is this year’s culinary capital for family, foodie, friendly offerings. Far from being mutually exclusive, Domes Zeen Chania proves you can dish up killer cuisine, be cool, contemporary AND child friendly. Centred around the Greek concept of ‘Ef Zeen’, the art of living well, everything from the decor, food and music choices have been designed with parents in mind. The Kids Club is equal parts aesthetically pleasing to the adult eye and enticing for children; with environmentally aware, Montessori led learning and beautiful, well kept toys. Weekly supervised sleepovers are also held in the magical Bedouin tents. The restaurant-rich town of Chania is a short stroll away and well worth exploring, (don’t miss the food at Ginger Concept).

Daios Cove

Crete

There were adult and family areas in Pangea, the main restaurant, which hosted a ‘buffet’ of international food. I don’t like using the word buffet because of the negative connotations around it, but this one was incredible! We’ve never eaten food like it. It was all fresh, any fish you’d like, or any cuisine - from miso salmon and fall-off-the-bone red meats. There were 3 other restaurants you could dine at which were also SO amazing!

Domes Zeen Chania

Crete

I have to mention the food which was exceptional and the best I’ve ever experienced in an All Inclusive/half board resort. The menu changes every day and every dish is so beautifully presented it warrants a photo and a place on a tasting menu. The food feels authentic to Greece for the most part (although the tuna poke bowl at lunch was also a favourite) and we didn’t have one bad dish out of many a three course meal. The kids menu was more standard - burgers, chicken, pasta etc but of similar quality in terms of ingredients
