Best activity-rich all inclusive

XO Cape Arnna, Turkey

Let’s not bury the lead, one of the highest highlights of XO Cape Arnna’s Kids Club (5+) is its opening time – running until 11pm 7 days a week! Pintsized night-owls are treated to mini discos, magic shows, juggling performances and even late-night secret agent training. A real standout of Lumi’s World is that parents are welcome to stay and play too, or if your offspring prefers a livelier scene they’re more than welcome to join in the adult after-dark activities, which includes DJ sets, live music and even karaoke. Need any more reasons to book? The all inclusive foodie fare is nothing short of delicious; there’s a splash pad or waterslide for every age; a complimentary Patisserie that gives the Parisians a run for their money; and generous family rooms you won’t want to check out of

Best spa hotel for smalls

Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort, Greece

You’ll be hard pressed to find a grown up feeling getaway with as many family facilities as Miraggio Thermal Spa resort in Greece. Starting with the evening entertainment offering – as that’s what you’re here for – there’s mini discos, a Madagascar show, enchanting fairy performances, mini cinema and even roller disco parties. The sprawling ‘Kids Planet’ comes armed with every attention-grabbing activity you can imagine, from a splash pad and mini race track, through to swings, soft play and even a bouncy castle. Stretching across a private Blue Flag beach, parents can soak up the sunshine (and serenity) from the adults-only pool or superior spa

Best of the bunch

Hillside Beach Club, Turkey

If there’s one hotel that always comes up trumps for evening entertainment it’s Hillside Beach Club in Turkey. Universally loved by ALL who visit, the epic nighttime extravaganzas are just one of the many, many, many (!) elements parents rave about. Performances here come courtesy of world-renowned professional dancers, and in a very sweet stroke of family friendliness, the troupe makes sure to rouse pintsized guests each morning with what’s in store for them that night. It’s the kids shows we’re most obsessed with though: where the animation team teach and rehearse with budding thespians, for a guaranteed proud-parent production. Song and dance aside, you and your gang will go gaga for the unbelievably beautiful beach (which is delicious from April – November), heated pools, mini waterslides, fabulous food, well-kitted out Baby Park and Kids Club from 4+

Best for foodie fanatics

Sani Club, Greece

There’s no denying that Sani offers the gold standard in gourmet getaways for foodie families seeking facilities and elegant excess. Rumbling stomachs are never seen here, with over 26 dining destinations to choose from. Evening entertainment is just as satisfying, thanks to themed performances for little uns and family friendly White Nights. The real showstopper, though, is the Sani Festival – which runs from July to August with an international line up of super star artists (we’re talking the likes of Tom Jones and Emile Sandé). Parents are free to catch up on their beauty sleep during the day, thanks to the comprehensive array of childcare (from 6 months +) on offer at Sani

Best for a ski-in, ski-out soiree

Club Med La Rosiere, France

Offering a family friendly spin on après, the evening entertainment at Club Med’s roster of ski resorts is legendary. From a live music accompaniment to your pre-dinner drinks, through comedy shows, circus tricks, and themed parties, they certainly know how to pack a piste-side punch in the party department. Prefer to unwind to a slightly lower decibel? Serenity-seeking ski bunnies are covered too, thanks to the gorgeous indoor pool and spoiling massages. Excuse us while we slip out of our salopettes and straight to the spa. And we’ve saved the best bit to last…all inclusive encompasses everything at this alpine address – from food and lift passes to ski hire and childcare

Best for five star cuisine and carnivals

Anda Barut, Turkey

The evening entertainment at Anda Barut is nothing short of spectacular. Forget sad renditions of a ga do do do, here boujee broods are treated to the type of nightly carnivals which would make Rio proud. We’re talking fairground-style stalls, magicians, a merry go round, bumper cars, candy floss and clowns. Make sure to book a babysitter for at least one night, as past lights-out-for-littles the party continues with DJs, acrobats, fire eaters and arena-grade tribute bands. Upping the ante on attention-grabbing daytime activities too, there’s a substantial aqua park – with flumes for all adrenaline appetites – and a comprehensive Kids Club for those 4+. Putting the final X in extra, is the faultless all inclusive dining. If you’ve done Sani, ticked off Ikos, and are looking for your next luxury family holiday, Anda Barut is your answer

Best for a laid-back, low-key getaway

Candia Park Village, Crete

Set on a secluded hillside, overlooking the twinkling turquoise waters of Mirabello Bay, Candia Park Village is the facility-rich retreat for parents in search of a go-slow getaway. Candy coloured self-catering apartments dot the meandering paths, which lead past the central ‘village square’ and picturesque clock tower. Fully kitted out kitchens give parents the flexibility to fend off any toddler hanger on their own terms, but there’s also a traditional taverna, bountiful buffet and gourmet gelateria- should you wish to let someone else take care of cooking for you! Offspring 4 and older are welcomed into the Mini Blues Kids Club, whilst any underage sprogs can stay and play with parental supervision. New pen-pals are easily made around the beach-facing pools, where the super sweet Mermaid School is a particular hit. Come evening, the whole family can enjoy bubble shows, magicians, mini discos, open air cinema screenings and live music nights

Best for fun in the winter sun

Princesa Yaiza, Lanzarote

There’s nothing shy about a stay at Princesa Yaiza – a confident 5* escape with six pools, nine restaurants and a ginormous Kids Club measuring in at over 10,000 square meters. A failsafe, sun-sure option, for exhausted parents year round, kids go wild for the indoor softplay, while parents rejoice at the supervised sessions. Childcare here starts from as young as 4 months, while the older set won’t have any complaints with kayaking, banana boats and stand up paddle boarding on their agenda. For mini party animals, there are mini discos and sweet shows at night, where tiny traveller audience participation is actively encouraged. This is the land of mascots (Kiko the Duck, Hooky the Pirate and Cookie the Hippo to be exact) but when your offspring are this entranced, it’s hard not to be enchanted too. And the cincher? There’s a boujee upmarket marina, with swish seafront restaurants, a mere 10 minute stroll away

Best tropical entertaining escape

Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa, Mauritius

A welcoming 4* resort, perfectly geared to families, Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa is our top tick for an affordable all inclusive in this neck of the woods. Nestled in the south of the island, perched next to the Blue Bay Marine Park, guests have not one, not two, but three beaches on their doorstep here. Entertainment is steeped in Mauritian culture, with a laser focus on locality and nature abundantly clear throughout the resort. Traditional folk dances and live bands serenade guests of all ages as the sun goes down, before kids are led out on night time beach explorations, hit up a game of after hours golf with their parents, strut their stuff in a fashion show, or try their hand at one of the onsite Escape Rooms. During the day, the Kids Club caters for children from two years’ old, with treasure hunts, crab spotting, arts and crafts. Visit during the holidays for Halloween ghost rides, Easter egg hunting and a meet ‘n’ greet with Santa Claus himself
